we are looking to book our next trip and think we would make good use of half board. Can someone tell me about it as i know nothing. Do you have to book it when booking your accomdation? Wht does in include, not include? Is it worth thr ££££?

YOu dont have to book it when you book your accomodation - you can add it on afterwards but have to book it before you go.

You have to book it for everynight of your stay for every person in your group but can only have it if staying in a Disney hotel.

There are 3 levels : Half board standard, Half board plus, Half board premium all costing different amounts and worth different amounts but Im sorry I cant remember exactly what these are but I think there is info in the FAQ sticky.

And yes it is definitely worth it

I know I'm probably slow, but don't quite understand it all! :flower3: Could someone please explain it slowly and simply to me!!!!!!!!! ;)

I went HB+ with my 2 kids a couple of weeks ago.

The adult HB voucher is worth 25 euros and the kids is worth 11 euros.

I ate at the SL (where we were staying) for 2 night and had the all you can eat buffet. The kids got a soft drink each as did I and I did not have to put anything to the bill.

We ate at Cafe Mickey on the last night. My bill came to 78 euros so I had my vouchers worth 47 euros and I had to pay the rest.

Basically you are paying for your meals before you go. What you get depends on where you use them.

In the buffet restaurants it includes the buffet and usually a soft drink as well

In some other restaurants you have a separate menu for half board payment and either the full cost of this will be covered by the voucher or you can order off the normal menu and use the voucher towards part payment.

You pay your money in advance and then are given vouchers when you check into your hotel - there will be one voucher per person per night dated for anytime between the dates you are there so if you are staying for 3 nights /4 days you will have 3 vouchers and can use them for lunch or evening meal on any of the 4 days

Don't worry it took me ages to get my head round this too :rolleyes1

Basically you buy a voucher, as Small World says, for every member of your party for every night you are staying onsite.

Currently the standard vouchers are £13 for adults and £6 for children, though the prices are increasing soon. You have a list of restaurants where you can eat using these vouchers without paying anything extra. These restaurants will offer you either a set menu, or an eat-as-much-as-you-like buffet. As an example, you could take your £13 voucher to Annettes, and have a 19.99 euro set menu, or take it to the Cheyenne and have their buffet, normally worth 22 euros, all using your £13 voucher and not paying a penny more. If you hated the set menu you could ask to use your voucher at face value, at the moment face value would be worth 19 euros. You could then buy anything from the normal restaurant menu up to 19 euros, or more if you are willing to pay the difference. So with the current exchange rate as bad as it is, they do offer excellent value.

There are also half-board plus, and half-board premium vouchers. You pay more for these (see the sticky as I'm not sure of their current cost), they give you a greater range of restaurants to eat in, including some of the character restaurants, and although you would have a bigger outlay, the potential savings are higher than if you bought the standard ones.

We used these vouchers for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought they were an excellent buy. like lots of others on here, i would highly recommend investing in them. As to which type you buy, it depends on the type of dining experience you want. I can highly recommend Annettes and the Silver Spur which were both on the standard vouchers list, and if you look at the restaurant sticky there are loads of great reviews to help you make you mind up (or give you even more indecision :rotfl: )

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Ooh Verity when are you thinking of going?
I think the main reason for getting the HB vouchers is the exchange rate. According to the DLRP brochure the rate used for HB vouchers up to 02/04/09 is 1.41 Euros to the Pound and after that its around 1.25 Euros to the pound so if you use the vouchers at face value (only worthwhile if you don't have AP or shareholder discount) you can save quite a bit of cash as the current exchange rate is poor compared with what you'll get using the vouchers.
I'm going to send you a PM with a few hints and tips. I worked out that for Alice and I it isn't worthwhile but for your family it may well be.

Thanks Guys!!!
Rosie _ I'll look forward to hearing form you. ;)

Can anyone tell me where i cn find a list of the restaurants for the different types of plans? I can't see it on the DLRP website.
