We are going to AKV for a week from Dec. 6th - 13th. Our flight will actually arrive the evening of the 5th and we are going to do a cash ressie (not sure where yet but somewhere on property). Do you know if we can get the dining plan for the entire 8 day stay or do we only qualify for the dining plan while at AKV? We are annual pass holders if that helps.

TIA!

As long as you tell them to link your cash ressie to your points ressie and then book the dining plan through Member Services, you should be able to do this no problem. We just did this the other way around. We had two studios, but not enough points to do both studios on the last day, so we paid for my brother's studio in cash and we had dining plan the whole time, all the way to the end.

If the cash room is booked thru DVC Member Services, then yes the two can be linked together. You will only be able to do this with DVC Villas and it's subject to limited availability. For an early December trip, I'd say the odds are slim of getting one thru Member Services...unless it's for a weekend night.

Other than that one scenario, I can't think of any other way to get the DDP for the entire stay. In fact, in most cases you won't even be able to get the DDP for the non-DVC resort.

Last I heard there is a 3-night minimum stay on cash rooms to add the dining plan. So if you book the one night thru CRO or a travel agent, you can't add the dining plan since it won't meet the minimum stay.

You could book a non-DVC resort using points and add the dining plan. But you already said you don't have enough points. And even if you did that, the dining plan at each resort would have its own start and end dates.

At this point, while you are still beyond the 7 month booking window, your chances are probably better then they will be once we move into that. And also, with the (rumored) possibility of some Kidani rooms coming online you might want to go ahead and try -- if you waitlist, something might open up. Besides, the 5th is a Friday, so that may also help, as Tim suggests.

Can a person waitlist for a cash ressie through Member Services? :confused3

Then again, you never know -- we just got a studio at AKV for July. I was amazed they still had anything open only 3 months (well, almost 4) out. :cloud9:
