Well, here's a summed up & good explaination of vanilla sky once & for all...

Well I did understand it until that explanation...

BTW, someone told me (although I haven't had a chance to see it again to verify) that everytime he is in a dream state you see the "Vanilla Sky"....

I don't ene think the actors, writers, or directors could tell you.

Oh, yea - it was about 2 hours and 12 minutes:D

I liked Vanilla Sky, thought Eyes Wide Shut was ok but about a half hour too long, and loved Magnolia. I have Magnolia on dvd :)

He actually begins his dream the morning he wakes up in the gutter. You can tell from the sky. And the guy at the end explains the whole thing anyways.

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are in the car. When it goes over, he is very very disfigured & close to death. That's when in "real time" they cryo him & he starts his "dream time", which is the whole movie. Skipping through most of the movie, things get really bad for him in his brain in "real time" and he starts having nightmares, or really bad problems in "dream time". At the end, he had to jump off the building to face his fear of heights and falling as a security way for him to be unfrozen and brought back into "real time". Of course the "dream time" is only a few weeks long, but in "real time" it was 150 years long.

Actually, he doesn't start the dream until long after he's been disfigured. He's in pain with severe headaches and he just can't stand to live this way anymore. He takes a lot of pills and commits suicide. He chose to commit suicide, they didn't just freeze him. I thought my explanation was fairly correct, I just watched it again a few days ago with DH.

actually you are right... I hadn't seen the movie until today again and realized I wass wrong. Thanks for doing the clearin up!

I haven't seen VS but it seems from people's explainations of it that it is one of those movies where people tend to form different opinions about what happened. I tend to like movies like that because it lets your mind do some thinking (rather than just letting it veg out for two hours or so)

I saw Eyes Wide Shut a while back ago...the uncensored version. I can't remember what it was about though??? All I remember is sex, people in masks, more sex, drugs, a little Asian guy in a costum shop trying to solicite his teenaged daughter and that's about it. I don't really remember the plot??? What exactly was the plot to that movie.

I didn't see Magnolia...I can't remember what it was about, can some refresh my memory? I think I can remember wanting to see it though. I just can't remember what the plot to it was.

Very complex, but great plot... so easiest for SSB to steal this from IMDB:

Plot Summary for
Magnolia (1999)

Magnolia is the study of nine lives in one day in San Fernando Valley, California. These nine lives all connect and revolve around the game show "What Do Kids Know?"(WDKK), where a team of three kids play against adults and everytime the show is on, there is a new team of adults and the kids remain; if they won the previous game. Earl Partridge (the late Jason Robards) produced "WDKK" when it was first on in the late 60s. He is dying of brain and lung cancer and is being taken care of by Phil Parma (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a male nurse. Linda, Earl's trophy wife (Julianne Moore) starts to fall in love with Earl for real, despite her cheating. Earl, rapidly dying on his bed, asks Phil to find his estranged son, Frank T.J. Mackey (Tom Cruise), who grew up hating Earl and now runs a seminar for single men, which teaches them how to seduce a woman and leave her... The host of "WDKK", Jimmy Gator (Philip Baker Hall), is also dying, but not as rapidly as Earl. He has a very rocky relationship with his daughter Claudia (Melora Waters), who sniffs crack 24/7 and accuses her father of sexually molesting her. Police Officer Jim (John C. Reilly) goes to Claudia's house after getting called about a disturbance. He falls in love with her right away... Stanley Specter (Jeremy Blackman) is a contestant on "WDKK", who is a genius and is being used by his father to make money. If Stanley and his team keep winning, they will set a record on the show and get tons of money. The record Stanley is trying to beat is the 1968 record set by Donnie Smith (William H. Macy), who had the exact same childhood when he was on the show and has now grown up to be a pathetic loser. He's been recently fired from his job, and is trying to find his way into happiness...
