Can someone recommend a resort for me?

I helping someone plan a trip to Disney - I love to plan!!

I've hit sort of a roadblock b/c they are a family of 5.

I want to find them the CHEAPEST room that I can at Disney (they're only going to stay on-site for 1 night).

They want to stay somewhere that has a "beach", pool, and as many activities as possible.

They are going in June, so rates are moderate. They have no problem booking 2 rooms, if the price is right.

They don't belong to any Disney clubs or memberships. I think they may be AAA members, but I'm not sure.

What would you guys recommend I tell my friends?

To do it cheaply...Call Disney direct and they will book two All-Star resort rooms with a connecting door. They assign an adult to each room

Of course no one is there to stop you from putting all the kids in one room and the adults in the other. The agent knows the trick but they go with it.

Wilderness Lodge would be a possible hit here. Polynesian is the only other with beach and pool and activities. That is expensive. WL may be the one.

I agree about WL, it has the beach, even though you are not allowed to swim in Bay Lake (ick, the duck factor!) but you would have to book two rooms. The CR will sleep 5, all rooms have daybeds. Their rates are actually pretty doable, we paid $149 a night for a garden wing room last June. They also have the lake/beach, along with two pools and the monorail.

I was thinking the same thing, but they would definitely need 2 rooms. 1 room for 1 night the Poly might be cheaper. What kind of activities are they looking for?

Port Orleans French Quarter. Great experience and nice time for all.

I also would recommend CR. The rooms are huge and it easily sleeps 5. The beach was right outside our North Garden Wing room, and we could see the kids on the beach from our patio (had to request lower level). Since they are only staying one night, I would definitely recommend a monorail resort. They can walk to MK from CR. The Poly might be even more appealing since it has a much more themed pool.

I agree, a CR garden wing room will probably be the least expensive way to fit the bill on this one.

My BIL's family of 5 has stayed at POR 2years in a row. The oldest (15) sleeps on the trundle bed. They absolute love it, except for a minor incident with a leaky air conditioner that soaked the surrounding carpet. He said they were not able to get maintenance to come right away.

In 2000, we stayed in the Contemporary Tower. It had 2 queen beds and a sofa. I can't remember if it pulled out, but it was very comfortable. Maybe someone would'nt mind sleeping there. It's worth checking into.

POR is the one of the cheapest options for 5, but the don't have a beach. They do have a cool pool.

Another vote for the Contemporary, especially for the conveniences of everything right there. Fast to get anywhere by monorail or walk to MK. Also Chef Mickey is right there for a fast character meal (and one of the best, IMHO). The day bed generously slept my youngest son when he was 16 and the rooms are also generous.

POR with trundle is a great option for price anyway...I have heard excellent stories about it as well and very budget friendly, better than 2 rooms at value resort I think $$ speaking anyway

We saved quite a bit when we stayed at POR with one room instead of two value rooms over Spring Break. There's no beach type pool, BUT you can legally pool hop over to POFQ's pool and the one at POR was equally great in our opinion. I think it's probably also a better value than two value rooms in more than just the price in that you can have a wonderful breakfast or dinner at Boatwrights and catch a boat to DTD. They also have dock fishing, boat rentals, bike and surrey bike rentals and carriage rides. As for the trundles, I personally have slept very comfortably on the trundle bed as a kinda chubby 5'5" and a half 34 yr old woman. I must say though that after a day at Epcot I could probably sleep peacefully standing up in the bathtub just as well. My 63 yr old Mom actually kicked me out of the trundle bed a couple of the nights. I think for 5 people POR is probably the best combination of budget and ammenities.

It may be too late, but how about renting DVC points. I helped my sister rent through these boards over spring break and I'm pretty sure we were less than 30 days out. It's worth thinking about. My sister got a studio at BWV for $140 a night. I'm sure June is cheaper. But then again with 5 I don't know what size room they would need. I hope someone a little more DVC knowledge will chime in on this one.

I would recommend any of the Moderate resorts. They are roomy enough for 5 and the cheapest way to do so. It is cheaper than getting 2 of the value resort rooms.
