We live in FL and are last minute planners. We plan typically one week before. We always stay on site. I just want to know if my assumptions re: FP+ are correct.

We will not get our MB in the mail but will get them upon check in? Do you need the physical MB to make FP+ reservations?

Since I would get my hotel reservation number typically less than a week before our arrival, does that mean it's too late to go online to book our FP+? Will the FP+ choices have run out because we are so close to our arrival date? In that case, do we have no other choice but to try and book them when we arrive in the parks?

We have always done our trips last minute, never had any problems making meal reservations, and got used to the old FP system. So the new FP+ system is freaking me out a bit.

I just want to know what I can expect if I book 7-10 days out. Thank you.

I can't speak to what will be available when you want to book FP+ at a week out, but I am hearing that depending on how crowded the park is, there are still good FP+ available day of. So depending if you are wanting to go at a busy time or not, you will likely have success booking FP+ a week out. Of course if they open pre-booking to offsite guests as it looks like they will, that may make the selections a bit harder. Time will tell on that.

You do not need to have a MB in hand to book FP+. As long as you have a resort reservation and tickets linked in MDE and are within 60 days of your trip you are able to book FP+.

I'm not sure what they will do in your situation, but here's waht they did in ours. We booked a stay that was 3 weeks out. The day after making our reservation I got an email asking us to choose our colors. The next day got another email saying they were overnighting our MBs to us. I got them the next day. So that was 3 days after making the reservation. Now as to making FP selections. All you need to do that is your hotel reservation number which you will receive when you book your trip. As soon as you hang up from booking your room you can go directly online to begin setting up your My Magic Experience account and selecting rides/attractions. So even if you don't receive the bands until your check in, you'll already have your FP selections ready to go. Physically having the MBs is not required to set up your choices.

I booked a stay for a Sunday the Tuesday before. Using my reservation number I was able to select FP+ prior. I didn't get to customize my MB (got the gray which I assume is standard?) and picked it up at my resort the morning of my check in. It does have my 1st name printed inside it. I had my AP set up on the MDE site and my MB was already linked when I picked it up.

adding...I did get a few follow up emails after sort of guiding me thru. Go make your FP+. Another one saying I would get my MB at check in. An email with directions to the resort.

We added a day to our tickets just last night for today so we had not been able to pre pick FP for today. This is a very busy holiday weekend. Last night I was able to book 3 FP including one for TSMM. Now, the times weren't great but I left them. Then this morning at 8:30 I was able to get much better times that worked for us. I had a 7pm TSM FP and got an 11:15 TSM FP.

Every other day this week I was able to make changes the night before with great availability. The only issue was this busy weekend. Even friday night I was able to change our safari FP for Saturday morning.

I would think at 7 days you would have no problem.
