Ok, we are a family of 4. Is there a way to do this without getting overly complicated. I desperately want the Deluxe Dining Plan. My husband and daughter say it's a big waste of money. I think it sounds like a good deal. They want 2 seperate rooms, is there a way of being charged just for an extra room as opposed to booking two completely seperate vacation packages? If I can crunch the numbers in the right way then I can argue for the DDP. Daughter and son want to have a room so Mom and Dad can have time apart from them.:mickeyjum Any help will be appreciated.

You can do one package and one room only reservation. It is separate, but it isn't two packages. However, if you want the dining plan, everyone has to be on the same reservation and has the same dining plan. You could do two packages, one with each room, and have DDP for two of you and deluxe DDP for two of you.

Check the DDP message board for more info on the Deluxe DDP vs. DDP vs. no DDP. A dining plan works if it fits your needs and is what you would typically do without a dining plan. It really just depends. If you DH and DD don't want to go to two sit down meals per day, then it sounds like it doesn't fit your needs.

Enjoy!

Ok, we want one reservation let's say with adjoining rooms. Is there a cost difference or charged the same as 2 seperate 2 person packages?

'cause we're pretty big eaters, and at the end of 9 days we had lots of CS credits left and tons and tons of snack credits. (We were buying food for everyone in line on our last day.) I couldn't imagine any more food.:rotfl:

Is it just you that wants/plans to eat more food?

If you are the only one that wants the Deluxe than you would probably be better off paying out of pocket for the extra food.

I know everyone eats differently and has a different appetite but here is my experience.

I went with my niece to WDW for 14 nights during Free Dining. We shared CS meals in the parks most of the time. At our resort she always had her own CS as she is lactose intollerant and they could make her pizza and waffles without dairy. We did one TS each day except one day (last day) and did two on another day (non-park). We left WDW with a box (12 snack credits) of Divvies chocolate chip cookies (no dairy), 5 Goofy's Make your own treats and some snacks to eat at the airport. I also gave a lot of water away to a family that wasn't on the dining plan, just to use up some CS credits and we were flying so no drinks.

I wouldn't buy the Dining Plan for myself. It's just too much food for me. I did enjoy eating at all the TS restaurants. If my trip was shorter than I wouldn't want that many, as they do take time away from the parks.

Just for another thought, have you looked into the Faily suites at ASMu? Then there is only 1 room reservation to worry about and lots of room for everyone.

Thought about the Deluxe DDP...
We had it for 10 nights over Christmas. It fit our needs. This was our kids first time and we wanted to do Character meals (no waiting in lines in parks), and have scheduled breaks. BUT it was SOOO MUCH FOOD! It included an appetizer, main course and dessert for each adult...3 times a day, PLUS 2 snack credits per person. We had so many snack credits left over that we brought home cookies and mickey ears.
One downfall is that you spend a lot of time in the resturants (depending on where you choose to eat). If your main goal is rides then you may just want to stick with the DDP for 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack. This is what we will do next time as the kids will be older.

The Delux DDP is an awful of of food. If your family likes to spend a lot of time sitting in table service resaurants, then it would be good for you. I can tell you that we had the Basic DDP in the past and we are definitely big eaters ( I even had to share my meals with a toddler with a large appetite). We were so stuffed most of our trips and had tons of snack credits left over at the end that we used as snacks on the plane ride home. Take into consideration that Disney's portions are very large. You may be pleasantly surprised with the basic DDP

It is my understanding that you can't be guaranteed adjoining rooms with only 2 children. Maybe I misunderstood when I attempted to book my res though.
