Can someone explain what the "polynesian chips" are at Captain Cook's?

Was looking through the menus and would like to know what the Polynesian Chips are on the menu? And also if it is possible to switch them out to French Fries?

Thanks so much! We've never been to any of the resorts and are planning on touring the resorts on the monorail line and will need a CS for dinner that night at one of the resorts.

They were odd. About 3/4 of them were as the previous poster described. Some sort of fried tortilla chip like thing. I don't think they were corn though. They were kinda puffed a little. Then, there were regular red corn tortilla chips mixed in and root chips (like Terra Chips) occasionally mixed in, too. It wasn't bad, but not great either. The puffed, fried, overgreasy things were very bland. They needed dip or some sort or some salt at least. The red corn chips and root chips were tasty.

Mine were a mix of wontons, tortilla chips and sweet potato chips. Think they were supposed to have taro chips too but I didn't see any.

My family liked them.

Thanks for the replies! But does anyone know if you can substitute french fries for them?

I don't know if you can substitute fries. Here's a picture of the chips--they are next to the sandwich.

Thanks for the photo! What else is in the picture? It all looks yummy!

I had the Aloha pork sandwich with the chips and Dh had a chicken stir fry. Both were good!

The Aloha pork sandwich rocks in my opinion. It is huge and very filling!

Thanks for the info! Now if I could just find out if we can substitute fries, we'll be all set! (DH won't like the chips)

I am pretty positive that they don't offer fries at Capt. Cooks. I am not sure they have a deep-fryer based on what's on the menu.

Thank you-I just went back and looked at the menu again, and they don't list french fries. I had looked at so many menus, must have gotten them mixed up. Thanks again!

I thought the chips were tasty - I tried DH's when he ordered the multi-grain turkey club sandwich. Most of the chips shown look like tortilla chips, but the other kinds were underneath.

MMMMmmmm.

they may not list fries, but they definitely have them. they were available for sure on kids meals, i'm sure you could get them on regular meals too.

3 weeks ago, I had fries with a kid's menu grilled cheese sandwich. I couldn't find anything on the adult menu that I liked, except the burger which I don't want to have everyday. I like simple food, and sadly Captain Cook's doesn't seem to have alot of that! :faint:
