Can someone explain the rumors of tiered membership?

I think this is a bad idea.

Not all families have need for so many points. Although they may have the money to purchase that many points - why buy more than you need just to be in a club??

A VIP program is specifically meant to reward those with volume who buy retail, generally at some small loss to the rest of the membership. This is the way they work. Everyone will have the potential to get there and it'll make sense for very few of them to do so.

Because that is what people do. Exclusivity is a powerful motivator, people feel special entering DVC events, TOTWL, CL at the resorts. We were on the elevator at Jambo going to CL, a lady riding with us didn't get off, I mentioned that this was CL, she replied that she likes riding the elevator and using her CL Key, it makes her feel special.
