Can someone answer a question about Windows auto updates?

I just got a new computer (yay!) with Windows NT. I get a pop-up screen asking if I want to update certain things, and they are in the form of a list.

For those of you who are familiar with this, do you normally just accept all the updates? Is there ever a time when you "un-check" one of the boxes in the list because you don't want that particular item updated? How do I know what I should accept or not?

Computers are just too smart these days!:p

I have never gone in and unchecked something that they wanted to update. I figure that they are hopefully fixing what I currently have. I even asked my DH and he said he saw no reason to uncheck anything they give you to update.

I accept 'critical and service packs' updates, and review the others, drivers and Windows XP, to see if they apply to me.

Did you get NT or XP or 2000? It sounds odd that you would get NT on a new computer.

Tina,

Boy, what a DUMMY I am! You're right, it's XP Professional. I don't know what I was thinking!
