I need to get something booked soon-- but for the life of me can't decide if I want September or April. It would be the very last week, Apr 27-May1 or the second week in September, the 7th-12th. It's going to probably be just me and DD (currently 2), and POSSIBLY my sister.

Here's my pro and con list:

April pros- SOONER! YAY! Better weather, better décor in the parks
April cons- more crowded, Unlikely that the mine train will be up by then.

Sept pros- much lower crowds, DD would be a bit older, if my sister comes, there's a chance I'll get to ride the Mine Train. :thumbsup2
Sept cons- I'm scared of being drenched, and it's hotter. Although we tend to handle heat fairly well, so it's really the rain that scares me, not the heat.

Anyone want to help me make up my mind? We've been to WDW both of these months before, and we lucked out weather wise when we went in Sept last. And when we went in April last, we utilized FPs well and crowds weren't an issue, but with all this FP+ business, I'm really nervous about handling crowds with only 3 FPs per day with a toddler! I think touring plans has September's MK crowds in the 2/3 range, and April is 4-6.

What would you do?

Subbing to this! Im kinda in the same boat..its either May or September/October. My reason for the rain in Sept is the same as yours!

I would definitely do September.

We go almost yearly in mid to late September. In the many weeks we've been there, it's only REALLY rained two days. Those two days were rainy for about 50% of the day.

I love the heat, so the heat and humidity don't bother me and you said that you tolerate it too. It's wonderful to be able to swim in the evenings after a park day. :)

The low crowds are awesome (especially with a toddler!) And the fall decorations will be up. If you choose, you could do one of the first MNSSHP. They typically start in early September.

And heaven help us all if the Mine Train isn't open by then! ;)

Have a great trip, whatever you decide! :)

September, hands down.

April is still pretty hot down here, so September wouldn't be much different. And the summer thunderstorms tend to calm down a bit in Sept.

Plus, you'll most likely get to see the Halloween decorations.

And the low crowds gives a ton of flexibility and makes a much more relaxing vacation.

My vote is for September. There is a lot to be said for smaller crowds with the new fastpass+ system. Make your sister go with you so you can ride the mine train and get help with your DD. With a 2 year old everyone could use some help! If that does not work, let me know and I will come! :rotfl: Have a great time whatever you choose! pixiedust:

If, by the last week of April, you mean the partial week that bleeds into May, that would be a great choice. Awesome weather and decent crowds. That would be my choice. We love the heat, and love September trips, but went last year in a week like this in April and it was amazing. But no FP+ then, so YMMV.

If you mean the week before - the last full week in April - the crowds will be crazy and I would eliminate that week.

It is my dream to one day go in September (probably will never happen since I'm a teacher) because of the low crowds. April can be very hot too, and if September rain is anything like end-of-August rain, it comes and goes quickly. To me, the most important thing is crowds. And you'll have more time to plan and get excited for your trip! Either way, you'll have a great time and be in WDW! Enjoy!

Wow! Sounds like September is the time to go! How about the end of September goimg into the first week of October??

Keep in mind this year Easter is April 20 so crowds might be huge at the end of April.

Even without Easter being late I'd still vote for September.

Wow, overwhelming votes for Sept!!! I think my gut was leaning that way, but I was looking at the precipitation percentages on easywdw and was getting cold feet!!! And yes, it would be the week that turns into May. Definitely not the week before!!
