Hello

I want to become a DVC member, I am not a resident of the US. I have been told that it is done but I would have to be in the US at the time of purchasing. DOes anyone know if this is true?

Also would financing be available to me or would I have to pay everithing up front.

Thanks

Christian

Yes, non US residents can purchase DVC. As far as which countries can purchase by mail/phone or which ones have to purchase in person...that may vary, as it also varies from state to state here in the US. I would guess financing would be the same way, depending on banking laws, etc.

Call Mark Webb at DVC and he will help you with everything. He is really really great. You can e-mail him too but I do not know how to do that. In the US, the phone would be 1-800-783-6767.

If you want more info just PM me.

Were from Canada and made our purchase over the phone as well as an add-on later on. Financed both, I have talked to people from the UK and I believe they have done the same. lovewdwdvc make a good suggestion, call a guide they will be glad to fill you in and sign you up.

PS it will be the best decision you will ever make.
Good luck,
Rob

We are in Canada and did all of our transaction via Fed Ex and fax from home without any problems.

What they can and cannot do in terms of sales and financing has more to do with the laws of your country than what DVC chooses to do. The suggestion of a good guide (above) is your best place to start. There is no pressure from DVC and they will gladly answer your questions.

Call Suzie @ 1800 827 3541 she will answer any and all questions you may have. Good luck and enjoy. I hope this post doesn't go against any guidelines if it does let me know and I will remove it.

*If* you're from Canada, the only province that DVC is registered in is Ontario...which means that if you're from any other province, you can't do anything unless you're in Florida. If you're in Florida, and you buy DVC from Disney, there is no problem to finance.

HOWEVER!!!
If you're buying resale, ie, not direct from Disney, no problem:) But the Timeshare Companies don't do financing. And remeber, there is a commission fee, somewhere in the $4-600 USD range.

Good luck!!

Just to clarify, I think you are referring to closing costs, which are typically paid for by the buyer when purchasing a resale contract. On top of the per point cost, you will pay the closing costs ($400-600, as stated above). The sales commision (irrelevant to the buyer) is paid by the seller, and is reduced from their net proceeds.

If you purchase from directly from Disney, they absorb the closing costs, so there are no additional costs in addition to the per point cost.

HI
If you are UK based you can definately purchase without being in the US at the time, and finance is available if you are purchasing direct through Disney
Good Luck
