I reserved my car in Sept for President's week for $188. I just went to print out my confirmation and the rate has been changed to $320!!! Can they do that????

Call their customer service number. Be sure you have original receipt or itinerary that shows original price you paid. I had this happen once before and as long as you had your original itinerary and you didn't make any changes they will honor the original rate

Did you make a print out of the reservation you made in September? If you have proof of your reservation, it should be honored.

Could be that you originally used the Priceless Vacation code which is no longer honored 660330 - as long as you have the original receipt printed or kept the original reservation information on your computer- just print it out and bring it along with you. If you feel more comfortable, go ahead and call them before you go to explain. We'll be there too - have a magical vacation! pixiedust:

I always "copy & paste" the page and e mail it to myself since my e mail sometimes goes crazy. So I printed that out - but I think I will call them tomorrow, anyway.

I haven't heard of this... Why isn't the Priceless code honored anymore?

Well, technically it is still honored. But, the fees (that didn't show up before) now show.

It was a mistake (that lasted many many years) to not include those fees according to National.

National has been making the changes to existing reservations as they get to them (sooner reservations first).

It was first mentioned (at least here on the DIS) last month. I had checked my May reservations at that time and my rate hadn't gone up. But when I checked again this month, my reservation price went up due to the fees.

I'm on the phone with them right now. It seems that the Priceless code was renegotiated as of the first of the year. My rate went from $186 for 1wk and 1 day to $384. :faint:

Ok, Just got off the phone. It seems that the renegotiation caused all existing reservations to be updated to the new higher price. The customer service rep I spoke with is going to contact the sales rep that works with Priceless Vacations to find out why people were not notified around Jan 1st that the reservations were no good. I'm hoping to hear back tomorrow.

Good luck! This happened to me in December, and I emailed National about 4 times, cutting and pasting my original ressie. Never got a satisfactory settlement and was told I would have to straighten it out at the counter (I'm EA), so I gave up and booked another ressie with them and even that one got messed up. I had a low price, but when I returned my car, the price that printed out was $100 more than my original confirmation, so we spent 30 minutes at the counter trying to straighten that mess out. We had reserved a minivan and took an uplander, but was charged as taking an upgraded minivan. The counter person agreed that the uplander is just the regular van, but it took a long time to get a refund and still it was not at the original price I had booked, but we didn't want to take a chance that we would miss our flight, so took the smaller refund and left. If the OP sticks with the original ressie, they will need to go to the counter and not to EA to straighten the ressie out BEFORE picking up the car, and I wish you luck, because it was like beating a dead horse.

BTW--we just returned this weekend and rented from Alamo. We had a great rate, and though Alamo gets alot of bad comments, we only have praise. The wait time in line was 10 minutes, no pressure to upgrade and drop off was quick and easy. We were charged exactly what was agreed too. This was the first time I have not rented through National in more than 30 rentals, so we were a little nervous. Overall our experience was excellent with Alamo and the prices Alamo are offering lately couldn't be passed up.

Ok, I just popped over to Mousesavers and Mary is warning everyone to stay away from the Priceless Code. I've rebooked my reservation with the American Express code and the Entertainment book $20 coupon. I now have a $250 reservation for a full size from 15-Feb to 23-Feb, which is a heck of a lot better than the $380 with Priceless.

Here's some pixie dust for everyone else going down President's week and used the Priceless codepixiedust:

Alamo looks MUCH better than National these days, and I have always done National, except for once, since '99, when I found the DIS.

I just rented a car from Alamo for a trip to Tampa from Orlando (after leaving my WDW vacation)! I reserved the car online and printed off my confirmation. When I got to the Alamo counter in Orlando, the clerk said here you go and printed off the receipt...like an idiot I did NOT read the receipt and signed all the pertinent boxes marked with an X. After I got to my Tampa destination just HAPPENED to look at the receipt. I knew I was flying out in 5 days and waited until I got back to Alamo to show them my confirmation and WHAT they actually charged me. GET THIS ONE. I reserved the car noting I would pick it up at noon. (Returning from the WONDER, I arrived at MCO at 9am)! Alamo clerk had absolutely NO PROBLEM at all giving me a CREDIT to my credit card BUT did explain that I was being charged from 9am NOT noon on the pick up day....UGH...something to consider when renting BUT I did return the car Friday morn at 9AM and had made the reservation for noon....so it was a wash anyway. But ALAMO quickly with NO DISCUSSION credit my cc!!!
Alamo has my vote.... :woohoo:

I spoke with someone at Emerald Club. While she was looking at my reservation it jumped another $300!! She said to make sure I bring the original print out and she was putting a note in the computer to honor that rate.
Wish me luck!

Relax, Print out the confirmation and take the car. If the problem takes to long to fix, when you get back call National and if you get nowhere, dispute the charges with your CC company.

If you are renting for a week + 1 day you will get socked on that extra day. Look into renting from one of the WDW-area/Lane Buena Vista-area locations, like the MK Car Care Center. Get ME from the airport to your resort and then pick up your car the next day, using a National/Alamo complimentary shuttle from your WDW resort. That way you won't have the nasty airport concession fees, etc and will only have to pay for a week *and* sometimes you can get a cheaper price at the MKCCC.

There is also a location at the Swalphin.

agnes!

If the ressie is for President's week, every station is, apparently, out of cars. We did make ours months ago, thanks to this board and Mousesavers, and we managed to save close to $200.
