I just found out I'm pregnant-- My son and I are going with my parents to WDW and since my son and I have riden Big Thunder hundreds of times, I was wondering-- if I walk with my son through the lines, would they let him ride with someone else or by himself-- and let me just wait for him? What about other rides like this that I will be unable to ride???

I'm not sure about this, but I think the height requirement to ride by yourself is 54", but I would doublecheck on that.

Yes, he can ride by himself. The age requirement to ride without a parent or guardian is 7 years old, and the height limit for the ride is 40".

yes. my 9yr old GS rode in a car by himself last july.

Eeyore0062,
where did you find that info? What about Test Track, star tours, etc.????

You can check out height/age requirements right here on the DIS:

Height Requirements

A nine year old should be tall enough and old enough to ride everything by himself. I too would walk the lines with him however. We have an only child and there has been occasions where he would be ridding alone and we notice another child or teenager that would be ridding alone also and the two could ride together. More fun together. Just keep your eyes open for solo riders.

thank you all so much! As excited as we are about the new baby, I just hated to have to cancel our vacation to WDW! He's excited that he'll be able to ride by himself! I just hope they will let me stay with him in line and be able to wait for him at the exit!! I don't like the idea of him being out of my site!! Thanks you guys!

Just remember to remind him to WAIT until the ride stops all the way before he gets off!!! It "stops" twice.

Yes you should be able to wait with him through the line and perhaps some of the pre-shows. Tell the CM your situation and see what they can do to accomodate you. Some of the rides have a chicken exit so you can stay with your son until the end, take the chicken exit and meet him when he gets off the ride.

Use fastpass - he won't have to wait the standby lines and by using your and his entrance pass you have more fastpasses available. If you need more information on the best ways to use fastpass just do a search -great info on that to be found. You won't be able to accompany him through the fastpass line but you probably won't need to. Just ask a CM where the exit is and have a backup plan with your on where to meet should you need it.

My DD has ridden both SM and RnR by herself many times. We always go through the line with her and then take the chicken exit and wait for her. Getting a FP is a great idea since it will make the wait shorter.

Thanks again, ya'll! I feel much better now!! (if only I could get over this nausea!!!)
