Can MS split a reservation into two separate reservations?

We have a reservation for during Presidents week and are unable to use it all. I wondered if MS could split the reservation into two separate reservations so a friend could use the other half? This is a busy time and the resorts are all booked up so would not want to lose the reservation.

You can drop nights from the beginning or end of the trip (or both), but you cannot split into two reservations except by dropping some nights and making a new reservation for those dropped nights, which new reservation would be subject to usual availability rules.

That would be what would happen if regular rules were followed. However, you never know what any particular MS rep might do in that situation until you call and ask.

Call and ask, then come back and let us know what you find out. I've wondered this myself, too.

I've done it but it's been a couple of years. I've seen reports that it's not possible now but I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those things that it depends on who you get when you call. The other option, and likely the one I'd take for most situations, is just to make arrangements for them to use it. List the maximum number of people in the room including as many of the other party as possible. Obviously the pitfalls are credit card issues, dining plan and if you don't have any spots under occupancy; but there are ways to handle all of those for almost all situations. You will have some risk of losing the reservation if they try to do this even if they tell you there isn't.

Thanks Dean and Drusba! It's been a while since I've been around these parts and not so much WDW. Spent some time doing college visits and a DCL trip to Norway/Iceland that was fantastic (but expensive!).
