Can MS combine 2 reservations (same category room) if made by 2 different members?

We have an upcoming stay and unfortunately have a very late flight home(due to over $400 difference in airfare). We were thinking of booking one more night so that we didnt have to check out at 11 and be able to stay comfortable until MDE would pick us up at 9pm (based on our flight). We are out of points (purchased points too) for this year. Our family friend (DVC member) has points that she can give us for that extra night (if it were to become available) and book it under her membership but with our name.

If this is for the exact same room type/view/category, will MS be able to merge the two if made on different memberships but having the same everything else??

They cannot combine them, but they can link them so the resort will see it is a continuing stay and you will not have to change rooms.

that is exactly what I was asking thank you....I just don't want to have to switch rooms because that would defeat the purpose of me doing it lol! I was hoping that was the answer and that it wouldn't! be a problem

Your friend can also transfer the points to your account and then you can book the extra day. Keep in mind that transferred points retain their home resort and UY.

The 2 reservations can be linked as long as everything (names, order of the names, DDP, etc.) on the 2 reservations are exactly the same. MS normally require that both members/owners call in together to make the request, then MS can make whatever changes necessary to the reservations and link the rooms. If the information already exactly matches on both reservations, then 1 member can call in and make the request, and MS can link them without making any changes.

In my experience, everything doesn't have to be the same unless dining is involved. We've linked with changes in names due to arrivals/departures

I thought they couldn't, but MS linked our October reservations. Both reservations are for the identical room (BWV studio, BW view) with the same guests, but under 2 different memberships, and only the first reservation with the DxDP. :thumbsup2

It sounds like they linked them but didn't combine into one, which was the OP.
