Wasn't sure where to post this.

Can men wear sleeveless tank tops in restaurants? So far we have PS's for Chef Mickey's breakfast and the Ohana Dinner.

This is going to sound bad anyway I say it but here goes. Probably, but who wants to see a guy's hairy armpits while they're eating? Okay, okay that sounds snotty but I'm not really sure how else to put it. Hope I didn't offend too badly.

A simple yes or no would be nice. Then I'll decide if my husband's armpits are too hairy.....thanks!

I personally would not find it proper at any sit down restaurant. Unfortunately I have seen other men in tank tops at restaurants.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing, just glad that you said it. Truthfully, I have NEVER seen a man that looked good in a tank, NEVER. Simple white t-shirt is much better.

I've seen tank tops in some of the park restaurants, but I have never seen anyone wearing tank tops in the resort restaurants, if that makes sense.

From what I've read on the boards and in the Unofficial Guide *all* Disney restaurants (with the exception of California Grill) have a casual dress code so a tank top should be just fine.

I also have never seen a man in a tank top at a restaurant other than maybe in the park. I would say dress as you would if you were going out to dinner at home. I don't see a difference since it is at WDW.

OK....sorry if we offended anyone in the past, but yes, my husband has worn tank tops in restaurants. Especially if we are on the way to the park and stop to have breakfast first (this is resort restaurants) and in the parks, yes I have seen men with tank tops.

Armpits or not, there will be men in tank tops in almost every restaurant (especially in the summer).

I've never seen a tank in California Grill, but I may not have looked hard enough.

Loops, if you and your husband are comfortable with a tank top, then no one will stop you...

Good luck!

Close, but not quite. Bistro De Paris, CG, Citrico's, Palio, Shula's all specifically prohibit men in tank tops. I'm pretty sure AP and YSH do as well.

Personally I don't care how hairy the OP's husbands pits are or are not, I don't want to see them while I'm eating--actually I don't want to see them even when I'm not eating.

If you're dining at a nicer place, regardless of where you are, please dress appropriately. The above are not Sizzler.

Both those places don't prohibit tanks. It might be nice for him to recognize that many find men in tank tops rather distasteful in any type of restaurant except counter service, and plan his packing appropriately.

Don't know if this helps or not, but your husband sounds alot like me wanting to be comfortable.

I have worn tanks while eating in the parks, Epcot, and MGM.

With that being said, if we go to eat at Cinderallas Castle, Rainforest in DTD or somewhere else which is more then a "eat and run" or something to the like, I tend to wear at least a t-shirt if not a Polo Type Shirt.

I just wanted to know if they were allowed or not, this way I can go prepared and carry along another shirt in my backpack.

Thanks!

If your husband likes to wear tank tops in the parks, carrying along another shirt in your backpack sounds like a good plan.

That way you'll be ready if you do decide to eat at anyplace not counter service.

IMO, men's tank tops are really intended for athletic endevours or undershirts. Just like swim suits are meant for swimming, not walking around the parks. :duck:

If I question whether an item of clothing is appropriate or not for me, I err on the side of caution and I don't wear it. I agree with WebmasterKathy about carrying a shirt with you.

Just out of curiosity.....is it then not appropriate for women to wear tank tops in restaurants?

For the record, I never said my husband was going to wear a tank top in a restaurant. Typically he wouldn't wear one to a restaurant, but I was wandering how to handle it if he wore one to the park and what to do if we didn't go back to the resort to change. I think I have my answer and if he does wear a tank top to a park, I will take a long a shirt with sleeves.

Have a nice day all! :flower:

Maybe just grab your hubby a casual front-button type short-sleeved shirt & toss it in your bag (like a Colombian or Lands End type). Then he can easily slip it on/off throughout the day, if he becomes warm or wants to look a bit more polished.

Keep in mind that the people of some European countries are much more accepting of body hair - on both men and women - than Americans. It's simply a part of their culture, not meant to be offensive.

Also another shirt would keep the A.C.from being too cold besides looking good.

Personally i like more fabric covering me so i need to put on less sunscreen.
I'll be wearing full length pants and long sleeves of a very lightweight yet sunproof fabric.

I am having trouble believing this thread. I personally haven't noticed if the people around me, men or women, are wearing tanktops, let alone how much body hair they have! :confused3 Maybe I'm spending too much time paying attetion to my own table.
