I am going to wager a guess that you've never been to Miami.

If you have, you'd understand perfectly why this question was asked. Honestly...you're in the minority there if you don't wear a thong. My bet is the OP is surprised at the responses on this board, because she was generally asking, probably assuming it was fine. As soon as I saw the title I thought oh boy, look out. G-rated posters are gonna go nuts.

Oh please. :sad2:

You don't have to be "g-rated" or a prude to understand the difference between what's appropriate attire in Miami vs. what's appropriate at a family theme park.

It just seems too easy to label anyone who can see the complexities in different social situations as a prude. I'm far from prudish. I just have enough sense to know that how I'd behave at Grandma's for Sunday dinner isn't the same as how I'd behave at a club on Saturday night

I say we just all were thongs! lol j/k...:rotfl2:

I live in Miami (born and raised) and I will tell you that most people would not consider wearing a thong to Disney even though they were them at the beach. Besides even if they did, a thong to us is NOTHING, at least they aren't asking about going topless. Now that's something very common down here.

which are so far down the thread that no one will bother reading them, but here I go anyway:

I think falling back on "Disney is a family place" is a cop-out. Where is the list of rules as to what is or isn't allowed in a "family place." I have a family and I've never seen those rules.

I hope the OP wasn't expecting consensus, because there is a great variety of people posting on DIS. I would venture to say that opinions for and against are probably close to an even split.

My opinion? I don't care what anyone else is wearing. I am there to have a happy vacation with my family. Seeing someone's butt isn't going to ruin my vacation any more than getting my heels run over by a stroller or having someone try to cut in line. If anything, I'd rather deal with a bare @$$ than those things.

Let's be honest, a thong is not a problem. Its how you deal with seeing a thong that determines whether or not you have a problem.

I'd wager a guess that all the G-raters here have never been to Bondi beach in Sydney, the French Riviera in Europe or Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. We as Americans are prudes. The foreigners who people are accusing of prancing around for others must realize that they are wearing what is accetable in their culture and are not necessarily doing it for your viewing pleasure. There skimpy bathing attire is the norm where they are from, just as we find it normal to wear running shoes as every day footwear. Europeans sit around and snicker at us for wearing "trainers" as they call it.

My only point is stop worrying about what others are wearing, and if your kids ask about it use it as a lesson in diversity of culture.
