Can I use Disney reward card for Character meals?

I have about $500 in Disney reward points on my CC.

We are headed to Disney in Nov, We will be staying off site and was going to buy park tickets at undercover tourist. Thought I might be able to use this money for character dining, but wasn't sure if I had to pay ahead of time for meals or can I use the reward points to when I book or when I dine?

Not sure where I am going to use this $500 (we won't be eating many meals at the parks...)

You can use the reward points at any of the restaurants on site...works just like a gift card! It's awesome to have so many rewards!

You can use the card for souvenirs as well.

We used ours to pay at Chef Mickey's last year.

Are you sure you wouldn't want to spend that money on park tickets? That's a large chunk of change!
We have used them for a variety of character meals, as well as park tickets.

How would that work at CRT where they charge you when you make the reservation? Or do they?
