I bought plain by mistake, can I just add vanilla extract? Should I add anything else (sugar)? TIA!

From Medicine.net:

Make Your Own Yummy Yogurt

•Yogurt parfait. Layer plain yogurt with fresh or frozen fruit and a spoon of crunchy high-fiber cereal, such as reduced fat granola or Grape-Nuts.

•Homemade flavored yogurt. Sweeten plain yogurt at home with your favorite flavors. It's much lower in sugar than store-bought flavors. Just stir in fresh or frozen fruit (like frozen blueberries) and a dash (about 5 drops) of vanilla extract (or other extract) or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. For example, you can make your own pina colada yogurt by mixing 1/8 cup of crushed pineapple (canned in its own juice) and a dash of coconut extract into 1/2 cup of plain yogurt.

•Nutty toppings. I like to have a nice, nutty, and sweet trail mix in my kitchen at all times. Almonds, pecans, dried fruits, raisins, coconut, and other trail mix favorites come in handy as a topping for yogurt. Choose whichever trail mix suits your taste.

I bought plain by misake once as well. I added a touch of honey and it was really good.

Yes, you can. Just add a little vanilla probably an 1/8 tsp for every cup and some kind of liquid sweetener to taste. What's great about doing this is you can control the amount the sugar and even the type you use (honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, stevia).

You sure can. I haven't bought flavored yogurts in some time. I prefer to buy the plain (which is also useful in baking) and flavor it the way I want, with much less sugar than the "pre-flavored" ones use. Just add vanilla and sweetener to taste. I use plain old sugar (or even better, brown sugar!).

I would recommend adding the extract or whatever flavor you want to each serving as you eat it as opposed the whole tub at once.
