I am very upset with Mark Webb who sold us 200pts when there was a great 15% offer less then a week out....and he didnt even call us about it!!!!!! I do NOT want to deal with this man any longer and I am sorry that I sat with him in the first place.
As stated,
DVC Guides rarely know about new promotional offers until they are active. This is likely done to avoid the very stuation you are complaining about: "psst...wait two weeks to buy and you'll get a better deal. But you didn't hear that from me."
My boyfriend wants to sell back the DVC and I just cant have that.
Well, you might want to calm him down by pointing out that he's going to lose several thousand dollars by trying to sell now. As I pointed out in another thread, unless you are still within the 14-day period in which you can rescind your agreement to buy, the contract is yours. DVC does not buy-back contracts directly.
You could look to sell on the resale market. Points at SSR now are going for about $80 via resale, and unless you find a buyer yourself and handle all of the contractual arrangements, you will pay about 12% commission on the sale. Assuming you paid $90 per point, you'll be forfeiting about $20 pp to sell now.
ETA: If the closing hasn't occurred yet, DVC may still let you cancel the contract. But they will absolutely charge you a fee to cover their expenses thus far.
So I figure I will have another consultant try to fix this mess of a contract before my bf sells it back!
IMHO, you would have gotten the same service from another other salesperson. In fact (and I'm just guessing here), I wouldn't be surprised if DVC had procedures in place to
discipline your Guide if he had called you and informed you of the lower price. You had already agreed to buy at one price. I can't imagine DVC would openly advocate him calling you and encouraging you to change the contract to terms that would cost them hundreds or thousands of dollars.
If you had bought a car a month ago, would you expect the dealership to call and tell you that new incentives now have a net price $500 lower, and offer you a refund?
If you had bought a big-screen TV last week, do you think
Best Buy would call and offer you a refund when it goes on sale this week?
Sorry for sounding like the voice of doom and gloom. More than anything, I think your anger with Mark is misplaced. He isn't my Guide and I don't know him from Adam. But unless you had other issues arise during your sale process, I think you'd be better off contacting Mark to see if there is anything he can do to aid you in this situation. You might get further by using him as your friend and ally rather than dismissing him as the enemy.
