All full sized bottles!! It's amazing how much you can fit in these things, seriously. We're thinking about getting another locker for kitchen items (such as full size Mickey glasses, plates and bowls) since I am not too fond of the items provided in the 1 bedrooms, they are very heavy plates! And then one more locker for clothes once we're both at our goal weights. It truly is very nice to be able to just come down without worrying about shampoo or body wash breaking in the suitcases, or fumbling around with those little quart size bags at the airport. :woohoo:

wow that's quite the list -

one thing i didn't like in the photo on their website is that they have products in there that clearly should be used within a year ie sunscreen. this would be something that shouldn't be left in unless you are travelling more then once a year.

thanks for asking the questions -

right now we don't need one because we drive down but it gives us an idea what to put in our travel container until such time that we will fly down and need one.

can i ask why you bring your own sheets? do they not provide them in DVC units??

I used to think that sunscreen was only good for a year too. But the new formulas last about 3 years. Here is the question and answer from Cosmo.

Q: Will my leftover sunscreen from last year still be effective?

A: Check to see if your bottle of sunscreen is stamped with an expiration date. If you don't see a date, the rule of thumb is that the active ingredients in sunscreen (like zinc, titanium dioxide and Parsol 1789) should remain stable and effective for about three years, according to David Leffell, M.D., professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine. But if it smells funny, feels lumpy or has a bizarro color, dump it. To keep your sunscreen as close to new as possible, store it in a dry spot at room temperature with the lid tightly fastened.

This sure saved me a lot of money on sunscreen. I was throwing it out every year. Now I take a magic marker and write the month and year that I bought the bottle on the bottom. My almost two year old sunscreen worked great on our last cruise.

Gee, gang, thanks for the kind words.

I think one of the keys to understanding why Owner's Locker makes sense for some folks is that it allows you to have things around you that you'd never ship or haul back and forth. Things that may not be essential but that make you feel more at home. Like the espresso machine, or full sized toiletries, a game console, framed pictures, or a water filter pitcher mentioned in prior posts.

I tested out the concept with my family for a few years before starting Owner's Locker and found that things like the right shampoo in the right sized bottle made our daughters feel more at home. I liked have a bottle or two of wine. And when we bought a new game console or camera, we'd leave the old one in what we called the Florida Box.

But I've got to admit that I never came up with the idea of storing a fitted bottom sheet. I fought with those silly sheets for years but just didn't put two and two together on that one.

I just bought a pop up laundry hamper to take down to WDW to put in my OL!!!! :cheer2: Who knew something so small would be so exciting to me! :rotfl2:

We pack light and always have to do laundry at WDW. I always wanted a real laundry hamper when staying at WDW. I always use to put our dirty laundry in a plastic bag (the dry cleaning bags usually work) but they would get heavy or be too small.

For people who would suggest using the hampers that DVC provides in the 1-bedrooms of larger, I would say ewwww. :rolleyes1 I usually wash those out first thing BEFORE putting clean clothes in it anyways and I would never put clean clothes AFTER having dirty clothes in it first.

Even better, our pop up hamper is pink and is Disney princesses decorated! We love it. I used the plastic bag approach, too, until we got the OL.

I LOVE OWNER'S LOCKER :lovestruc :worship:

We were at Old Key West over Easter (could you smell the points burning) and I remembered something I always kept in my Owner's Locker (we called it the Florida Box at the time) that I haven't seen anyone mention. It was a shaving mirror with suction cups for using in the shower. I got so used to using one at home, I just had to have one for my second home.

Since I spend lots of time at WDW in Dec and Jan, I am going to leave a turtleneck, some gloves, and my Mickey fleece jacket in my OL. They are a pain to haul back and forth.

For the holidays (Halloween and Christmas), I decorate my room with Mickey garland and some window clings. I will be leaving those in my locker as well.

Can't wait to try it out next month! :cool1:

I know it's rude... but I can't help myself!

I am convinced that we need an Owner's Locker. But my DH isn't. Tell me...

What do you have in your Owner's Locker that makes it worth the cost (as opposed to mailing down some stuff before your trip and after).

I have seen the recent posts about air mattresses, which I thought was a great idea. Obviously, I would put water containers/filters, mister/fans, etc. in there. I was also thinking beach towels... but right now... all the stuff I come up with is light enough to make me think mailing it is cheaper. I also love to cook (even on vacation) and I was thinking a hand-mixer might come in handy.

So can I peek in your locker? What's in there that's so awesome it will convince DH it's worth it!

The mixer and beach towels are available at the DVC resorts, so I wouldn't bother with those. I would only put things in it that aren't already available at the resorts themselves. I was thinking a full sized laundry liquid, pancake griddle, sunscreen, Brita filter for the kitchen faucet, air mattress, full sized hair care products, extra set of cosmetics, curling iron, etc. Maybe even some clothes and shoes as well as a fitted King sheet.

DISNEY FIX,

The original, prototype Owner's Locker which is really a Rubberbermaid bin I bought at Target, that we used to test the concept when I was based in England is still around. My family used to call it the Florida Box but now I call it old number 1. Sadly, it's empty these days.

But if it were full, I really don't think I could talk Brian into delivering it.

And I'll tell you what else. It would have a king size fitted bottom sheet. I can not believe I never thought of that. I've been cussing those sheets since 1992 and storing a bottom sheet NEVER hit my radar screen. A nice wine opener and some candles to put around the jacuzzi did, though!
John

We have our Locker stuffed, but 2 items make it COMPLETELY worth it: Our Brita pitcher and our coffee grinder. Fresh ground bean coffee made with filtered water instead of Nescafe swill.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! :cloud9:

We keep anything unique to our Disney trips. Disney shirts, hats, rain gear. We also keep a first aid kit, bathroom stuff and spare shoes.

Hey, where did your hilarious picture go of the crunched locker? I was just going to come back to add a comment that you were't supposed to let the critters on the AKV savanna play with it while you're staying there.

You snooze you loose. :cool1: My picture didn't really have anything to do with what we keep in our locker, so I removed it.

Yipeeee:woohoo: I ordered my OL yesterday!!!!!
Thanks guys for offering members here such a great Dis(count)!

One thing I know I will add will be DD's Travel Journal.
She started it(her Disney journal) with her 1st WDW trip 5 years ago. It will be staying in the OL now so "Mom":rolleyes1 won't forget to pack it. She is 11 and will be taking her BFF this trip and her Mimi at Christmas. It will be a great keepsake someday. She loves to journal!

Can you really get an aero bed in that locker? What size? inquiring minds......

Was that really your locker though? What happened to it?

I have a twin size aero bed in its bag with a mattress cover and a set of Pooh sheets in my locker.
