can i roast my dogs at the campfire/sing along?

i have been to the campfire sing along before, but can't recall the specifics on the campfire itself. i know that when they first light it, it is a sea of children with marshmellows and sticks, but after the movie gets started, does the fire stay lit and could we bring our dogs and retractable forks for a weenie roast?

We went over to the campfire one night when we were there last month and I did see people cooking hot dogs. Made me wish I had brought mine(we were staying elsewhere). Yes the campfire stays lit during the movie. It was a cool night when we were there and they kept adding wood throughout the movie. Have a great time!

I know you can roast "hot dogs" at the campfire, I dont think weiner dogs are allowed out of the pet loops however.

While dogs were allowed to be roasted in the past, recent demonstrations by PETA and the ASPCA have ended that practice.

Yes you can, but I think the howls and barking might disturb those wishing to hear the movie.

Hot dogs I've seen at the fire ring before, live dogs, no.

Yeah, we've taken the dogs, the buns, the mustard/ketchup, and our sticks to the sing-along/campfire. As others said, the marshmellow elbowing is pretty intense waiting for the songs to start. I've been stared down out of my ring side spot by a 4-year old waving a sharp stick with a burning piece of white sugary blob on the end flames dancing off of it.

It trails off during the singing because the kids want to get over to their seats to greet Chip and Dale (remember, as Ms. Sundee says, Chip is the one with the chocolate brown nose/no gap and Dale has the red nose with the gap between his teeth).

There are two fire areas, one to either side of the arena and during slow times (if there are any of those left) sometimes they light only 1 fire, I think). But they do keep the fire going into the start of the movie/cartoon and usually by that time there is nobody left roasting marshmellows. So do it, enjoy it, and savor the looks of all the other parents who paid $15 per kid to have supper somewhere on property while you get by on $5 for the whole family!

sorry to all the pooch lovers out there who (i know jokingly) were outraged at the thought of me fire toasting my pup.

we never have "hot dogs" in my house, they are always called "dogs". And there is no better way to cook one than over an open flame, and if that flame happens to be at WDW while i am enjoying a sing along with chip and dale, well, that is all the better. (add in that there is no clean up AND my family is having a cheap meal while vacationing at WDW....which is as illusive there as an albino armadillo....heck, that is the holy grail of dining experiences.)

Oooh, retractable forks, good idea! We did this once because we were running late for the singalong, used our skewers which are the fairly longish camping ones but it still got a little warm from sitting there longer than you do for marshmallows (and who wants those littled roasted dog crispy spots on your cheeks?)

Before we started cooking them I asked the campfire attendee if it was OK and she said it was and that she'd seen people cook just about everything at their fire (some have filled dutch ovens with apple crisp and other desserty things and left them there cooking during the movie and had dessert after - yum!)

we LOVE our retractable camp forks. they are not as long as i would like but they are not bad. they take up very little space in our storage area and the best part, we found that the medal part can rotate. so you don't have to turn the entire fork, just use one finger to spin the medal part and your dog/mello makes a nice quarter turn and gets nice and evenly toasty. we snagged them at WalMart's camping section.

Hey - if you can do a dutch oven there, why not our cast iron sandwich griddle. MMMMM - a grilled fluffer-nutter.
