We are a family of 5, heading to WDW in August:cool1:
We were checking out point charts for 3 nights. I know they "unofficially" allow 5 in a 1 bdr,-we've done it previously at OKW and SS. Anyway, we were looking into VWL and saw that 2 studios are less points than the 1 bdr. and we'd have the extra bathroom and beds. (The kitchen and W/D aren't too important-though it'd be nice:goodvibes )
Is it possible to request 2 studios next to eachother? We've never stayed at VWL, so I wasn't sure of the setup there.

There are no "connecting" studios in VWL (or anywhere in a WDW DVC for that matter). Connecting rooms have an interior door that can be opened to allow you to trave between the rooms without going into the hallway.

There are only a handful of adjacent stuidos in VWL - stuidios that are directly next door. You can request them (have it noted on the reservation) but don't get your hopes up. However, getting two rooms near each other is usually possible.

We've booked 2 studios @ AKV for late Feb. We requested they be close, will request again inside 7 days, and ask again when we check-in. We booked standard studios so we know we'll be relatively close to each other in the end. We're hoping to be close, but realistic enough to be okay if our families happen to be separated. Plus, @ AKV we'll be on the same floor at Jambo so we're not that concerned.

I got 2 studios side by side at BWV. They did not connect but it was great!:goodvibes

That's all I'd like....as long as they're close to each other (next door would be great!) Did you request side by side before you arrived?

If you aren't dead set on a particular resort, the 1BR at AKV sleeps 5 with the sleeper chair. It is fairly comfortable for a child.

Also, having the washer/dryer is very convenient during the hot & humid summer months.

There is no guarantee that you will get two studios close to each other. That means Mom will have to stay in one with two kids and Dad in the other with kid. Not the way I'd really like to spend my vacation.

With VWL the smallest DVC, there is a good chance that you won't find two studios next to each other. You might even be on two different floors or two different wings.

There are no "adjoining" studios in VWL (or anywhere in a WDW DVC for that matter). Adjoinging rooms have an interior door that can be opened to allow you to trave between the rooms without going into the hallway.

Actually the "adjoining" rooms you describe would be connecting rooms. The term "Adjoining" rooms means only that they are located next to each other but there is no connecting interior door.

Whoops - you are 100% right. I was posting too early in the morning --- I was thinking about the distinction between connecting and adjoining, but wrote adjoining and adjacent. My bad.

No problem. Its an error that you see often when discussing travel stuff.

The other big confusion is when people say they want a direct flight when they mean non-stop.

OK, sorry for the detour, we now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

VWL is where we most often did not get our villas near each other. We usually need a 2 bedroom and then 2-3 studios and usually they are on different floors, but right on top of each other. Now, this past October, we only needed 1 studio with the 2 bedroom and it was practically just across the hall. Maybe our luck has changed.

Best wishes, I hope you get what you want!

I did request that they be near each other. It was a great surprise that they were next door!:goodvibes

Requests are requests, sometimes they are met, sometimes they aren't. What is the backup plan for a room on the first floor near the Lodge and a room on the third floor at the end of the hallway? You may be fine with Mom and Dad vacationing in two separate hotel rooms a few minutes walk from each other, or you may wish you'd spent the extra points. If the resort is booked there simply may not be two rooms near each other.

Would there be room, then, for a playpen? I have 4 kids. Two in the beds, one on a convertible chair, and one in a crib. Would this work here?
