I agree with Lynn. You don't ever want to doubt intentions. Did they propose to get the ladies ot stop nagging, or because they really wanted to?

They will do it when they are ready. You girls are young so it will come when it is time with the right person.

Lol thanks...I am almost 30 and have actually been married before...

Eta; Dbf actually brings it up more often than I do

I agree. I actually knew when it was coming so that kind of sucked. It was still a nice moment but I would have loved to have been surprised instead. :headache:

I really wouldn't mind if it was a suprise or not, I know it sounds kinda lame, but I really wouldn't mind. It's just the action that matters to me and the wanting to have a future together, so even if the proposal was the crappiest thing ever, I would love it. :)

Sadly, people felt the need to tell me that he bought a ring and his dad mentioned at a BBQ we had on labor day last year that he was going to propose on Christmas Day so I knew that day he was going to do it. I was still happy but I was so mad at everyone that said something to me.

The first time I got married I knew too...I went and picked out several rings and we had actually been planning the wedding for 3 months when he officially proposed.

I am excited dbf is so insistent that I won't know and that it will be a HUGE surprise:lovestruc

Yeah I think it will be better that way especially if you knew the first time. I think it will be more exciting.

lynn is so right.... we should all enjoy our time with the dbf and soon it will come.

I'm so glad this thread is back..:lmao: I love the ring you seen at jcpenny.. its beautiful!!

Mandy - that ring is gorgeous! And you and your BF are cuuute :)

Toni - that sucks so much that everyone told you before hand :sad2: You had every right to be mad!

As much as I talk about and love Disney weddings, I could honestly care less about getting married any time soon. I love spending time with DBF obviously, but I know we are going to spend our lives together and I don't feel the need to rush him into anything. We joke around about wedding stuff and kind of discuss our likes/dislikes/whats important/whats not, but nothing real serious. I figure that we have time for all that and we should just enjoy each other now.

I have a feeling whenever he does propose though, I will have no freaking idea about it before hand and I like the thought of that. Hopefully though my parents can keep their big mouths shut, because I know he is going to ask my parents for their blessing beforehand, he even said so the other day :goodvibes

You were married before? Oh gosh I can't imagine having to go through all that planning all over again. I would just go away and have a small intimate wedding.

I had enough stress planning the at home reception...I can't imagine having to do it twice:scared1: The wedding part was stress free..but the whole reception thing drove me crazy.

Sorry about the first wedding..at least you have a DBF who loves you so much and can't wait to propose to you:goodvibes :lovestruc That is all that matters now:cloud9:

:scared1: OMG why would anyone want to plan a second wedding?? Mandy did you have a wedding the first time around?

I was married once before but my husband passed away and now that I just got engaged again I don't even want to think of planning another wedding...

Poor DF I love him to pieces but I would be happy with getting the paper at the court house and going on the honeymoon ;) That is my favorite part of getting married :lmao:

Yes...I planned a pretty big wedding the first time around (about 150 people). And the wedding was nothing I wanted. It was a catholic ceremony (including MASS!) in a church I had never been to. Then we had a big reception where everyone left by 9 p.m. because of a blizzard. I had no interest in a big wedding the first time, and don't the second time. I think the only thing I loved about my first wedding was my dress :)

The thing I have to consider is that this will be dbf first (and ONLY!!) wedding. So I have to compromise a bit...I have always dreamed of a very small wedding at Disney...but that might not be what he wants. So I have to be willing to bend a bit:rolleyes: The wedding itself I am a bit flexible on but I have NO desire to have a big reception...I don't want to plan centerpieces and favors and all that:scared:

MyMelody, I am so sorry to hear about your first marriage :(

Yes, I had the big wedding too and I was really young so I remember my mom and sis did most of my planning  but I was never really into doing all that by myself anyway. Now with my DF we just got engaged in August and this would be his first wedding too but we have 2 kids and it seems like planning is such a PITA that I am willing to give up and just go to court....

This would actually be a very special event let me tell you, cause if we do have the wedding it will be more to unite our family as one with our children.. When we got engaged my son was so very happy that we heard for the first 48 hours "mom, dad when is the wedding" over and over again  So it was quite a special feeling I have

Awww that is sooo sweet!! And what better reason to have a wedding than to celebrate your family!:surfweb:

So is everyone planning a small wedding?
I myself am considering a small ceremony even if I don't get to do the Disney Intimate Wedding. I just don't see the point of having lots of people you don't even know...
If I do get to do my Disney Wedding, I will probably have a Catholic Ceremony before the actual ceremony here at home. I know both our families would really like that and more people could attend since I can only invite a limited amount for the Intimate ceremony.

Congratulations on your engagement! Your son sounds adorable. The picture of them in you signature is too cute :cutie:

I have a feeling my future wedding will be enormous. I have a small immediate family (just myself, parents and my little sister), but my extended family is huge. I know that if I don't invite them all they will be super offended. DBF's family is pretty big too, so I think we're SOL on a small wedding.

And my mom is totally one of those moms who will invite everyone they know to their daughter's wedding, regardless if the daughter knows everyone or not

Does anyone else's parents bug them about getting married? My parents keep telling me we need to stop living in sin

My mom actually dreads me getting married, lol. Probably because I'm the youngest of 3 and the only one still living with her. She doesn't want me to go away, hehe

I definitely want a small wedding. I don't care if dbf wants a huge reception afterwards to celebrate but I would like the actual ceremony to be small and intimate...I will probably lose that battle but a girl can try.

My mom is actually the opposite. What she wants is grandchildren and has made it quite clear I don't have to be married for that to happen:rotfl:

Hehehehe, my mom already has 6 grandchildren: 3 from my sister and 3 from my brother, so she's not desperate for those. However, the pressure is on me for the girl, because all my brother and sister have are boys! :rotfl: In fact, i'm the one that desperately wants children.

:rotfl: Mom's are funny...she hints all the time!! Actually dbf was the last one to say something. He's 31 and told me today that he wants to start having kids by the time he's 33...I told him the math didn't add up. That's only a year and a half away and babies take NINE months.:rotfl:

Back to wedding planning...I am also very against having a bridal party. But of course dbf already has like 5 guys picked out.

What about your bridal parties???
