Hello Everyone,

I have been lurking around these forums for a while now and considering buying DVC points for even longer. I think it is perfect for my family's vacationing needs, especially because even my adult children love Disney World. Two days ago a seller accepted my offer so now I am just waiting on Disney to waive their ROFR...

As I am thinking about the program it occurred to me that I have one question which is pretty important to the way I stay at Disney that I have not seen answered. Can I book a room through DVC the day before I want to stay or even the day of? I realize that I won't have a huge amount of choice, depending on the time of year, but I was even wondering if it is possible to book a DVC room the same day you want to stay? Thanks for your help.

Thanks,
Gene

It is definitely possible. I've done it on a few occasions -- called the morning or even afternoon-of and gotten a room. You many not have much in the way of choices, and I've only been ever looking for a single night when I book last minute, but it has worked for me.

Yes, this is possible. However, as you said, finding last minute availability may prevent you from getting what you want if it is a busy time of year.

I have even heard of members calling when down at Disney who decided they wanted a few more days and called MS while at WDW to book the extra nights.

Congratulations and here is some pixie dust that you pass ROFR!! pixiedust:

Thanks for replies. I'm really hoping to hear a positive reply from Disney, although from the research I've done into what Disney has let go through and what they have bought back I am right on the cusp, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully I'll be back here in about a month asking for recommendation for a good guide!

I would not buy based on being able to do that regularly. I'm 1 for 2 for reservations within 30 days. The first time was in early February 2006 at BCV, I called about a week before and got a studio for a Thursday night. The second time was about 3 weeks before for a Sunday night in mid October. Nothing was available, any resort, any room size. I booked a standard room at POFQ with points (I had extra to play with), that was before the $95 fee.

A guide will be automatically assigned to you. Your guide is really only your salesman, if you want to purchase additional DVC contracts through Disney. All other aspects of your membership, reservations, member satisfaction and accounting go through their respective departments...think of your guide as the sales department.
