I really don't think it would be safe to schedule that one. Travel time to the airport/getting through security, I'm not sure I would even schedule a flight in the 11 o'clock hour.
I wouldn't, you gamble on everything running smoothly, no traffic, no delays. We did make it to MCO once at 9:30, but everything aligned and we didn't have a flight that day
Boat starts letting out between 7:30am and 8:00am. It's about a 50 min drive to MCO. So yes, you could very likely make it, especially if you do online airline check-in. Don't do the put your bags in the hallway thing the night before, that will slow you down. Take your bags with you when getting off in the morning, that's faster. With Disney Transportation you should be at MCO around 9:00am which would give you over an hour to get through TSA. Goes even faster if you have TSA pre-check (well worth the $85 for 5 years). This is all unless you have an issue at customs getting off boat. I wouldn't do it because I would feel rushed and worried, not because I would fear missing the flight.
Customs gets a print out of everything you bought at duty free store on board the ship. Back when they sold cartons of cigarettes on board, I bought 2. We went through one carton during the cruise and then I took one with me off the boat upon return. I don't know what it is now, but at the time laws said you could only bring one carton of cigs into the country. I told the customs guy I only had one carton and I get held up at customs because he wanted to know where the other carton was. The only way he could have known that I bought 2 is if DCL shares what you bought at the duty free store. It would be easy to computerize and share that info since you charge everything on your KTW card. I'm just putting this long story out there to you so that you know this if you're in a hurry and trying to get through customs fast.
When we left the Fantasy in December, it took us 1 hour to go from inside the boat to outside of customs. Apparently there were a couple of customs agents that called in sick.
On our previous cruises off the Dream we were able to get outside of customs within a half hour.
I also recommend getting TSA precheck. Each adults needs to have their own TSA Precheck number, but kids 12 and under can go through with their parents. That really helped us out in Orlando, we were able to get through security in 5 minutes.
I think you could make it pretty easily, if you are up early and off the boat. We just got off the Dream last Monday and took our time that morning and were still at the airport by 9:30am. Security isn't bad if you have TSA Pre-Check. We had a 2pm flight and had lots of time to kill.
Yes, you can, as long as the ship isn't late. It's usually on time, so as long as you're comfortable with a small risk, it should work. It took only about 10 minutes for us to disembark the Dream during Express Walk-Off last month. The line to get off the ship was very long before the ship opened up (extending way past the atrium, halfway down the hall to Animator's Palate), but once it did open up, that line moved very quickly.
Two years ago we got stopped for additional screening at customs at the Miami port (don't know why), but even that only took a few minutes. Naturally, make sure everything's on the up & up so that if you do get pegged for additional Customs screening, it will be simple & relatively quick.
I recommend doing Express Walk-Off as soon as the ship opens up for disembarkation. If you could do Onboard Airline Check-In, that would be ideal. But yes, you can make it if you have transportation ready to take you to the airport. The Disney bus would work.
Yes! Before that cruise I thought all the people on these boards who said don't book an early flight were silly! Lol. I tend to wing it and always cut things too close... not anymore.
Our flight is scheduled for 10:40 am. We will do express walk-off and carry all of our luggage with us. We have a private car scheduled, have TSA pre-check, will print our boarding passes out the day before and won't check any luggage at the airport. As long as the ship docks when it's supposed to, we should make it on time! We've done this flight after DCL before and it worked. If the stars don't align, we'll deal with it when we get to the airport!
