Can I get the same merchandise that are in WDW gift stores on Amazon?

We are going down to our favorite place in 11 days! Our grandchildren are already identifying what they would like us to bring back. We are glad to do it. But my wife just raised an interesting question:

If we can get disney merchandise online from say Amazon, why not order it ahead of time and have it delivered to the house? It will save the packing trauma we always experience for the flight home or the cost of shipping it, where in the latter case the gifts don't usually arrive until a few days after we are back and that disappoints the little ones.

This year the character in favor is Ariel and I guess we never took the time to wonder if there are gifts IN Disney World that are exclusive to the store.

The items you find on Amazon are not directly through Disney. Yes they say they are a Disney parks products but if you notice they are all sold by a 3rd party. You most likely will be paying more then you would have buying direct from the parks. Just to show the Pandora Passport kit is 38.59 form Amazon but is only 16.99 at the parks. Your best bet is either to prepurchase items from Disneystore.com or the Shop Disney parks app. Yes you have to pay shipping but the shipping will not be nearly as much as the double cost you would pay on Amazon or ebay.

I have been able to find a few items on Amazon. For example, in December, I found a Disney Theme Park edition Monopoly game in the GF gift shop. I really wanted it, but, like you didn't want to lug it or ship it back home. While I was in the store, I got on my phone, searched Amazon and found it for almost half the price (it was being sold by Amazon and I got prime shipping). I ordered it while I was in the store. So, yes, you can find some things. If you know what they want, doesn't hurt to look now and order it (though, if it is being sold by a third-party seller, it may be cheaper in the parks). Going through the Disney Parks app and going online to see what they have at the Disney Store is a good idea as well.

Depends what you want. There's lots of stuff you can find on Amazon, at Target, Disney Store, etc. There's also lots of stuff that is park exclusive that won't be for sale elsewhere (although as you noted you can pretty much find anything online from people who buy it and resell it at outrageously jacked up prices). Your best bet for anything that isn't marketed for sale to general stores is the Shop Disney Parks app which has a lot more of the park only merchandise. (The Disney Store app is fine as well but for most toys, those things can be found in many other places).

You could also always call the phone line for Disney merchandise and have it sent that way. I was just able to do my Disneyland spirit jersey in this way, and it got to me within 4 days of ordering it. The number is 1-877-560-6477 and they were extremely helpful with my order. That way you know it's coming straight from Disney and you are not being possibly price gouged by third party sellers.

Some items, but by no means all.

I have had some experience with this. I had been looking and looking for a baby boy first Christmas ornament & a new stocking holder to go along with our other Disney stocking holders. I had looked during several trips with no luck. Also no luck on the Disney sites so I took a stab in the dark and looked on Amazon. Lo and behold, there were the very items that I had been searching for.

You may be able to get some of the same items on Amazon but I wouldn't recommend it as much as I shop Amazon (a lot). I don't know why but they have a huge mark up on Disney Parks items. I would get the items directly from the disney parks merchandise or the Disney store online and click on Park merchandise.

That's a good point, and sometimes there are special promotions where you get free shipping on orders over a specified amount. I just made an order yesterday on the Shop Parks App for just under $100. No shipping fee and I didn't get charged sales tax either. :earsboy:

Any official Parks Exclusive merchandise sold directly by Amazon and not through 3rd party sellers are overstock items which are not currently onsale in the park. They are the items which Disney has discontinued selling in the park for various reasons. They sell them through Amazon to get rid of overstock they have produced but not sold, so that they dont loose money or have to store items they no longer sell. I found this out a few years ago. I was looking for some Sketchers shoes and just missed them in the store as they were seasonal items. The store person gave me the product code and told me to search on Amazon as Sketchers sell the discontinued lines through Amazon. And yes I did find them, I cant remember if they were cheaper or around the same price as the store price.

And some of those private sellers that sell through Amazon may not be 100% above board. I wouldn't be so sure you're not getting a really good knock-off, depending on the items you're ordering.
