Can I find out beforehand if hyenas and eels will appear?

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, so I apologise if this is the wrong forum to post to. I'm a pre-middle-aged woman who has never "met" my favourite Disney characters.

I'm interested in going to Mickey's Not So Scary Party only if I will be able to meet and greet Banzai, Shenzi and Ed.

I'm also interested in seeing Flotsam and Jetsam.

Do the same villain characters appear every party day in September and October of the same calendar year?

Would I be able to find merchandise of the hyenas and eels at the gift shops?

None of those characters can be met but I think all of them appear in the parade in some form. The same characters are scheduled to appear at all parties in a season, the lineup doesn't change. Merchandise of those characters isn't common, if there at all.

The Hyenas were out for meet and greets during Villains Unleashed in 2014. That event no longer exists.

Banzai, Shenzi and Ed are in the Halloween parade.
Flotsam and Jetsam are not.

You may be able to find some pins with Flotsam and Jetsam on them, but I don't believe Banzai, Shenzi and Ed are on any merchandise at this time.

I thought the eels were near Ursula on her float (not characters persay but part of the float itself) but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Ursula does not have a float in WDW
She did in a parade at DLR, not sure if she still does

We (TDS, Disneystore) sold the eels as plush a few years ago, when the DVD was re-released. You may see them on Ebay. Long ago, I think we may have sold the hyenas as well, but I am not 100% sure on that. Sometimes they sell different plush at the NYC theaters (Broadway) where they show Lion King, but that is a real long shot.

Start doing runDisney events. Pretty sure in the last few years I saw the hyenas out and about during a race. No guarantee they will show up again, or at what race they would be at, but that may be your best bet other than forking out the cash to have them at a private event.

The hyenas are in the Boo To You Parade at Halloween Party.

Might be slight changes to characters year to year but fairly standard.

Real hyenas are at AK on night safari.

The eels are on the Under the Sea ride and in the Little Mermaid (DHS) show.

Merchandise ... those will be tough, maybe pins.

When at WDW, anyone in a merchandise location can get on computer and do a product search, tell you where it is and how many they have left.

Ursula was her own self-contained "float/unit" at WDW in MK's SpectroMagic Parade.
That parade was discontinued 7-8 years ago.

DS has hundreds of characters in beanies, and yes we have the hyenas in beanie plush.

That's what I remembered too. There in 2008, gone by 2012 according to my YouTube research.

Hopefully you muted your search! CM friend's first parade was 2010's BTY but she has also been in others so wasn't exactly sure when I first noted Ursula.

Yes hiro, I stumbled upon pictures taken at Hollywood Studios where people got to meet and greet the hyenas in 2014.

Thanks for sharing the video HopperFan! The hyenas appeared around 5:38 and it seems like they don't stay long. Is it possible to catch up with them when they leave the show? Meaning, do they roam around the park once they are off show duty?
I saw Flotsam and Jetsam plushes on ebay too... they are going for a fortune!

BTW: When I tried replying earlier today, the site was down for hours!
