I can't decide where to stay...........Is it okay to book two rooms at different hotels for the same dates and force myself to decide nearer the time of travel? Is this allowed and is there any penalty as long as I cancel one before the 5 day rule?

Thanks for any advice

No. When you book they take all your personal information - address, phone - as well as the names of everyone in your party. You can't turn around and book the same party at a different resort. You'd have to plunk down TWO deposits and fudge your personal information on the second ressie. I've heard (unconfirmed) that the computer will cancel both of your ressies if it determines you're double booked this way.

The good news is that once you've booked, you can call back and modify your reservation to change the dates and resorts. I almost always change my date and/or resort at least once, sometimes three times. CM's are used to indecision.

Thank you for letting me know!........If you don't mind me asking - which hotel would you choose with 3 kids (12,7 and 3)?

Duh, I edited my post because I just realized I was on the Universal board!!!!!!!!

I chose RPH for our first Universal stay this summer. We'll be there for a weekend, and I liked the rates. Can't wait to see what Universal is all about!!!

If you are looking at Universal Hotels, with kids that age I would try for a Delux Room at HRH. 500square feet with 2 Queen Beds and a pull out sofa. The RPR also has deluxe rooms, I think they are the same bedding wise, but maybe a little bit smaller.

In October my beans were 11, 7 and 5 and they LOVED the Hard Rock  . DH did too so we are staying there again this time NOW the beans are 12, 7, 5!!

I like the look of HRH too.......but will it be over-run with teenagers? Also have you got any experience of club level?

Thank you!

floridaforever, you might also want to double check tink55's response with someone at a Universal resort. From her post, it sounds like she is talking about the Disney policy (reference to CMs, etc.) She may have made the same mistake I did and gone into "Disney" mode when answering your question!!

i have stayed at all three on site hotels with hrh my favorite.

have stayed club 5 times at hrh, standard room, suite, and deluxe rooms.

they place is not run over by teenagers. i always wonder why that is asked as many adults and over 30 love rock and roll also. the ambience, pictures on the walls, lobby decorations, hall decor is of rock and roll. music is played throughtout the lobby and pool area. (underground speakers for the pool also) once you are in the elevators, you will not be hearing the general lobby music. the floors are quiet, no music played there.

pbh has the largest rooms. hrh next then rph smallest sq footage.

you can pool hop to all the hotel pools. it is not like disney, it is encouraged.

also you can bring back your refillable mug that you bought at the park and get refills at a discount price. my mug is over 8 years old and i take it each year for the refill price.

if you want to stay club at hrh and want a deluxe, it is not guaranteed at the time of reservation unless you contact the hotel direct. it is a request but they are limited on the number of them they have on club floor.

hrh has only 650 rooms. businesses hold conventions at this hotel frequently.

all hotels have the boat shuttle and walk way path. i forget the name of the vehicle, ricket maybe, is another. your party sits in the back of the ricket and it is pulled by a cyclist. they work on tips only.

any hotel you chose to stay in will be a delight to your family.

i would chose the pbh or hrh based on having 3 kids, 2 adults in the room.
only because it would be more space for your family and for storing your luggage in the room.

Yea verily...

But I would expect Universal to have similar policies and for good reason... besides, who wants to make 2 deposits for one vacation!
