I am flying from Canada and changing planes...can i wrap a case of water in my lugguage and take with me> Or can I take an empty bottle and refill at night in resort?

You can put it in a checked bag but the weight will put you over the limit and it would just be cheaper to buy a case when you get there. Or yes they will refill your bottle.

You can also ask for cups of ice water from counter service restaurants in the park for free to fill your water bottle! That's my favorite thrifty tip. :)

Can I ship as case of water as a "piece" of luggage? We have free baggage and will not be using all of it, so I was thinking of picking up a case and simply sending it through. Not sure if airlines will allow it though.

Another option is to ship it without it being luggage on your plane. You can that and other groceries delivered to your resort. I just did this for our upcoming trip. Fruits, water, bagels being delivered to our resort on the day we arrive. Very nominal delivery fee and worth every penny for the kids to have snacks available in the room.

Thanks, just wondering if it would be possible to ship the water as a piece of luggage if we decide to go that route?

Why in the world would you ship it as luggage. Airlines charge for checked luggage. And I would have to believe it would be way more than the delivery fee if you use one of the grocery companies that will deliver it to your resort. Not to mention you will, as my family always does, need more than just water in your room, such as snacks, soda, breakfast foods etc... You also have to check about delivery charge because when we recently went to DLR if your order was $50.00 or more Vans would deliver for free. Spending the money on snacks, water, fast breakfast foods for on the go can add up pretty quick. But it can save you huge amounts of money in the park. We have been to WDW many times and DLR just once and we were never stopped from bringing in large amounts of water, soda and food. They really don't care.

We flew Southwest and put bottled water in our luggage. No problems at all. DH & I each got 2 free checked bags. We really only needed 1 so we took one with snacks and bottled water. We just split it up between the 2 bags so that it wouldn't be over the 50# limit. Ended up with about a case of water between the two suitcases. It all arrived fine, with no wet clothes! lol We knew that was a risk but honestly it is only water so would have been fine if something happened. AND we still had 2 more free checked bags we could have taken ALOT more but we didn't need that much.

Um, do you not realize that if your bottles of water break, they will most likely not just get your luggage wet but everyone else's bags who are near yours? And many people pack stuff that would be ruined if it got wet. Even if other people's luggage wasn't ruined, I can't think of anyone who would be happy to arrive and find all of their luggage wet.

I wouldn't think just a case of water would be ok as checked baggage. Those luggage handlers are none to gentle with out stuff. It would be way to easy for them to break, or for it to break in transit.

I think the water bottles will be fine. I took a few diet soft drinks to China in our luggage and they arrived undamaged. I think I am going to bring some water with us to Disney in September. They will go in an extra suitcase and I am going to put the water bottles in ziplock bags and then put those inside a trash bag we will use for our dirty clothes during the trip. I will also put our beach towels in there with them but nothing else. We have 6 free bags on Southwest for only three people so no need to worry about checked baggage fees.

Our local Five Below had 20oz collapsible bottles with d-rings. This way would were able to fill up at the resort and clip them to our backpacks.

Alternative option would be to buy a case of water from Amazon and have it shipped to your resort. You can get a case of 24 .5L bottles for $9 total out of pocket (assuming you are at a resort that can accept shipments for you). We were going to do that for our recent stay, but missed the order window by one day ... since we were arriving on a Friday, the water would have arrived on Monday, meaning we wouldn't be able to use it for the parks until Tuesday. Not worth it at that point...

The OP already said she's getting free luggage. There are airlines that give two free bags (Southwest and AirTran) and there are people who have enough points on frequent flier programs that they get free luggage. Husband is flying AirTran in September to deal with some family issues and I'm having him put a second suitcase in his one he's checking. Since he gets two free suitcases, he can bring things back home from his family home.

Yes I think it would be fine to send in luggage. Just pack in garbage bag in case of leakage. Pack some towels or something around them so they aren't moving much, the luggage handlers are pretty rough! They really throw those suitcases around :(

I would go the route of ordering it locally and having it delivered to the resort room personally. We have been in the situation of dragging around a case of water as luggage, and the more unnecessary luggage you have, the more of a pain it is. But it will likely be fine and not leak, especially if you follow the previous advice of wrapping in a garbage bag and towels. :)

yes the reason I am taking water instead of getting it shipped while down there is because we have free luggage with our carrier. Instead of placing it in a suitcase, can I leave it as a case and ship it? Im traveling westjet.thanks

I really think it would get crushed or destroyed. Have you seen how they load stuff on a plane? They toss it on the cart, drive it to the plane, put it on a conveyor, and then a guy in the plane tosses piece after piece of luggage on top of each other. The process is reversed to get the luggage back out. Glass bottles would break and plastic ones would collapse. You'd have to buy a sturdy container to ship it in, and at that point it would be cheaper to but water when you get to Disney.

Short answer- maybe. The airline may refuse to take it if you try to send it as baggage 'as is' without additional wrapping to make it water proof in case it is damaged. I'd call or email the airline and ask.

But why would you want the hassle? I'm assuming you are depending on Disney transport (no rental car) and so can't easily or cheaply to to the closest Walmart to your resort. You can always hop on the bus or take a taxi to the closest Hess station and buy a case there.

Yep. The way they handle baggage is true. We watched them load all the luggage (ours included) and they basically toss it up onto the belt. lol

That being said, we took almost a whole case between two suitcases and none of it was harmed. We did pack it between beach towels and clothes and such. But no problem at all. We still had water left and brought it home in the same suitcases. Made it both ways, no problem.

I can see that in suitcases, but OP is talking about shipping a case by itself, without any packaging or protection.
