I have a question. There is 5 of us, "3 adults", 2 "children". If i was to go to say ABC Commissary, and all 5 of us wanted a burger (on adult menu only). Can i use 5 of my adult credits to get 5 burgers, or could i only get 3 because there is only 3 adults? Also now if i could use those 5 adult credits, i would have extra kids credits, so could i go to Casey's and use 5 child credits at one time for all 5 of us. (no child's menu there). If i can do this, do you think it is wrong, or cheating the system?
THANKS!

This issue is discussed in this thread, amoung others.

Disney has already made it clear child credit are to be used to purchase child meals for kids. It's strategies like the one you're suggesting that will cause Disney to just put a kids menu, like other restaurants, in the few restaurants that don't already have one. It's not enough that Disney lets your kids use their credits to get an adult meal in a few restaurants. You want to use kids credits to get adult meals for adults. Disney can afford the few dollars worth of extra food. You're cheating the guests who follow. The guests who find Pizza missing from the kids menu.

The brochure clearly says child entitlements can't be used to obtain adult meals. What you propose is wrong.

OK, so is it also wrong to use adult credits for my children?

It really isn't as simple as I'm going to get all adult meals here, but then I'm going to get all kids meals here. Children need to order off the children's menu where one is available, so to answer your question, no it wouldn't be ok for you to use any credits to get adult meals for kids or vice versa. I know it seems weird not to be able to feed your kids burgers when you are having one, but that is how it is set up. If this doesn't work for you then maybe the DDP isn't right for you. Or, maybe it would be better to pay OOP for one extra burger for the kids to split.

The present CS meals probably don't work out for some older kids. The kids meal plan costs $11; a snack is worth $3-$4 and a TS character meal is worth around $15 including tax and tip. Nothing wrong with just paying a few dollars for an extra burger.

You're not allowed to use your credits to treat others not on the plan. Kids are required to order off the kids menu when available. Some CS are limiting you to ordering what your card says 3A2C means you can't order 5 adult meals. It's the easiest way to deter guests from buying meals for people not on the plan. Any "scheme" that leaves you with "leftover" child credits that get used to at a CS restaurant that only has adult meals is cheating.

A better solution, particularly at the resort food courts, is just ask if you can get a child size portion of an adult item. There have been many posters that have been treated fairly when they asked. Don't expect the Pepper Market to provide a small rib eye steak for your child. Actually the Pepper Market may not be a good example. The restaurant isn't owned by Disney.

The real answer to your question is NO, even if Disney let's you get extra A meals it's not right to wind up using extra kids credit to buy pizza for your group.

OK thanks. This is why i asked. I really didn't know if it was right or not. I wasn't trying to cheat the system. I guess i could use my adult credits at ABC Commissary for the burgers, and pay out of pocket for the kids burgers. Then at Casey's, use the child credits for the kids and pay out of pocket for the adults. One other question. Me and my husband will use a sit down credit one night, while the kids are at the kids club. So we will have 3 credits left (1 adult, 2 children). So when we go to another sit down is it possible to use those 3 credits for the kids and the DDE card for me and my husband? Thanks for your help! :)

You'll have 2C and 1A credit left. You'll pay for one child meal and one adult meal, am I missing something:confused3?

You may want to rethink the DDP. Depending on how you eat skipping the dining plan and just using your DDE card might work out better.

You'll have to pay OOP for one adult TS, you can use the DDE for that one meal you are paying OOP for. If you use 2 A credits at ABC for burgers you'll have 2 kids credits left, but you'll also still have the 2 A credits you didn't use for the kids burgers so you should not need to pay OOP for the adult meals at Caseys. you'll just have 2 Children's CS left so the kids could get sandwiches at EOS or they could use them for kids breakfasts.

I have 5 people in my family, ME, DH, DS11 (ADULT), DS9, DD6. So after me and my husband use our credits, my DS11 will have an adult credit left and my DS9, and DD6, will together have 2 child credits left. So if i go to Ohanas, the kids can use there credits and me and my husband can pay out of pocket, possibly using the DDE for a discount, correct? I just wanted to make sure there was no problem, with part of the dining party using credits and the other part paying out of pocket with the DDE.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to your #'s, so of course you'd have 1A for your older child left--Sure, you can pay OOP using the DDE for the two of you. Just let the server know when you place your order so that s/he will ring it up properly for you. In addition the OOP portion may already have an 18% gratuity added so be cautious not to overtip.

There is no problem paying seperately, the main restriction is that you can not go over the amount on the card. You can not on one meal use more than 2A/3C. You can use less than that if you would like.
Also, if the CS does not offer a kids meal, then you should be able to get a hamburger for a child credit.

The more you try to cheat the system, we who love the dining plan are going to suffer:

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND/USE

2 adults 7 days = 7 snacks/adult; 7 adult counter service/adult; 7 'sit down' dinners/adult

3 children 7 days = 7 snacks/child; 7 childrden menu counterservice/child; 7 'sit down' child menu dinner/child

everything is on you 'key to the world card' and is deducted as you use it...

That seemed kind of rude. The OP is only asking if she can pay OOP for Ohanas, for her and her DH, and then use the remaining adult and child credits for her children, while using DDE for the OOP meals.

This is a discussion board. When people ask questions trying to find out answers to things they wonder about, they should not be accused of trying to cheat the system. It's a legitimate quest for information. The OP should be given your opinions in a pleasant and civilized manner. If the OP's intent was to defraud the Disney company, I doubt he or she would be seeking everyone's approval.

Just my .02.

cdrn1 - I completely agree with you. Well put.
tazleiten12 - To avoid the flames I PM's you my opinion.

Whether it is wrong is immaterial. I don't think with the new regulations in place you will be able to get more than 3 adult meals and 2 kid's meals at one sitting. So you will not be able to purchase 5 adult burgers at the same time using your plan. Same at Casey's you are only going to be able to purchase and be charged to your plan, 2 kid's meals, the others will be charged as adult.

As to whether part of the group can pay and part can use the plan, yes you can do that.

We went in Sept, and I thought they still pooled all the adult and children's credits. I'm not sure, because 99% of our table service meals were buffets. Has something changed since then?

Personally, I can't wait to see how this plays out. With the really lousy kids choices at the counter services, I think there are going to be a bunch of ticked off people.

It changed as of Jan. 1, because so many people figured out how to work the system.
