Hi all!
Question for you all: As a resort guest, if I were to call the California Grill (or any fine Disney restaurant i.e. Citricros, etc) and place an order on the phone, and then pick the order up and pay, would they do this? I am not able to get ressies for when I wanted and thought a take out of our favs would be a good replacment. Would Disney allow this?

I don't know but...take-out from a fine dining restaurant is hardly a good substitute in my book! If I am spending the $$$ on the food, I want the amazing view, atmosphere, and service that goes with it.
If you must - disney is usually very accomadating and would probably work with you. Just give them a call.

We did take out from Kona when we stayed at the Polynesian, but I've since read they dont do walk ups, but they might -

when we were at Cali grill dd was sick and couldnt eat, but since we were on the dining plan we HAD to order her a meal (she is a 11 yr old adult) but they would put it in the to go container -

it made a delicious lunch the next day btw!

When I was booking our wedding, I came across information about Grand Floridian's Private Dining:

http://www.mouseweddings.com/wdwromance.html#grand

According to Mouse Weddings:

The Grand Floridian will create a private dining experience for couples, with views of the fireworks and a personal butler to attend to all your needs.

The dinners usually take place outside in the alcove area overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon, and dessert is timed to coincide with the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom. You can order off of the private dining menu, or for a 25% surcharge, order from any of the Grand Floridian's fantastic restaurants (Narcoossees, Citricos, etc.).

This standard Private Dining meal includes a multi-course dinner and one bottle of wine or champagne. Depending on your specific food and beverage selections, the dinner usually costs around $200 plus 6.5% tax and gratuity.

Contact (407) 824-2578 at least seven days in advance to schedule a private dinner at the Grand Floridian.

So with respect to Citricos, it seems like it's possible to eat it without reservations. Obviously the surcharge is annoying, but it would be private and overlooking the Lagoon so it'd still be a great option. Good luck!

suprgrlx, i didn't know about that. thanks! i think i might book that for DF and I when we are in disney for our honeymoon!

Thanks for that post about Private Dining events!!!! That sounds right up my alley!!! I'm going to call the Grand Floridian when that office opens at 9am.

It's not likely that you would be able to order take-out from any Disney table service restaurant. A large part of the reason you (any 'you', not necessarily the OP) can't get a reservation is that the kitchen capability is taken into consideration when determining reservations. If, for example, a kitchen can turn out 100 entrees in an hour, and there are reservations for 100 people during that time, they don't have the staffing, etc., to prep and package additional meals.

Hi! Thank you all for the information. I called the Private Dining number and inquired about the pricing for their Intimate Dinners.

The price starts at 85 dollars per person, a 75 fee for the butler, and 6.5 % tax which is more than the 200 price mentioned earlier.

The 85 pp base price is a very basic meal of entree and dessert. There is only one seating per evening for this Intimate Dinner event located in a semi-private location at the G. Floridian.

I have given to the staff my food preferences and waiting back for a final price. I have a feeling I'll be seeing a price tag of 400 or more since I asked for appetizer, salad, entree, dessert, and wine. I'll let you all know what happens.

We have gotten take out from Kona Cafe a few times, however, they would not accept an order when we called from our room. We were told we had to order in person.
