I have seen posts lately with questions about the property taxes of our respective home resorts. I want to put in my two cents and just plain ask: can I deduct my DVC taxes along with my regular property taxes since I itemize? I just bought back in July and I am still learning about all of the extra things related to owning my little piece of the Mouse.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You should always check with your own tax advisor, but you may be able to deduct the cost of the property tax component of your DVC maintenance fees. You will not get a 1099 (1098?)from DVC, but can easily compute the amount by multiplying the property tax amount by the number of points you own.

If you are financing thru DVC, you should receive a 1099 (1098?)for the interest paid.

Enjoy!

Actually Doc, there is a line on the dues statement showing your portion of the actual RE tax paid for the year. That is the amount that should be deducted from your taxes.

Thanks, ripleysmom! My statement hasn't arrived yet and I couldn't remember from years past.

I got my statement today so my memory was able to be much fresher :teeth:
