Can I check in my booster seat?

Instead of lugging 2 booster seats can I check them in? Also is this part of my bag allowence?

You can check your seats. I am not sure if it counts towards your total allowance. We've always been way under our allowance so I didn't pay attention to how they are counted.

It depends on what airline you are using. I am using AA and my carseat and stroller are not part of my bag allowance. I was checking on ticket prices with Continental Airlines and they count the stroller and carseat as my 2 bag allowance. I also know that Delta doesn't count them against you also.

I have never flown before, but when you check a carseat/booster, what do you do? Do you check it just the way it is and put luggage tags on it, or do you box it up?

I bought a large car seat travel bag that has wheels on it. It is great and saves the car seat from getting dirty.

We have always flown SW, so don't known about other airlines policys. We have always checked booster seat with our luggage. Pre labeled them at home and they provided a plastic bag to put them in. They attached luggage tags just as they did to all the luggage. I think it did count towards your total baggage.

You can try checking it at the gate too like you do a stroller, I have done that in the past.

We check ours going down. We too have a carseat bag with luggage tags. Coming home we have to gate check it since we use the resort checkin, so the luggage is already gone, but since we need to have our car seats to drive to the airport, we have to gate check them. You can put them in a big trash bag too. Just don't forget the luggage tag.
