Can I change vacation dates if weather prevents travel?

Vacation trip is paid for and upcoming in 4 weeks. Since we drive the 14 hour trip via WV & VA mountains we plan to closely monitor the weather for snow in the days leading up to leaving. My question is if there is snow in the mountains and we can't travel, can we move our vacation dates without losing what we've paid? In other words, can you make changes even the day or two before your expected arrival and not lose money.

We did not purchase travel insurance. It says that has to be done before paying the balance of the reservation so I'm guessing we can't now.

Trip insurance often includes coverage for weather issues affecting travel.

You can change or cancel your travel arrangements subject to any limitations (cancellation fees, change fees, etc.) agreed to when you made your purchase. If you made hotel reservations for a Disney hotel directly with Disney, you may generally cancel or change reservations without penalty up to either 30 days or 5 days prior to arrival, depending if you purchased a package (30 days) or a stand-alone hotel room (5 days).

If you rented DVC points privatel, that's between you and the party you rented from. Disney is not part of that transaction and will not get involved.

Other hotel operator/travel providers may have other terms and conditions.
