Can I buy an AP now even tho we arent planning on going until sometime in 2008?

Yes you can.

As long as you do not buy from a source that sells you an activated pass, you are fine. You will get a voucher that you will exchange for an activated pass. The vouchers do not expire, the activated passes do.

that's a good idea-the price would probably go up by the time you needed them

We bought ours last year before the prices went up and will activate them on our June trip.

Bought our last year with DVC discount and saved $400. They won't activate till you use them at a park.
