Can I ask for a college grad working at WDW?

I spend half my money on WDW, and waste the rest.

Sorry if I shouldn't ask this on here.

Are there "college program" apartments, and then "regular WDW" that are separate, or do they intermingle?

DBF just landed a job at WDW starting in August after graduating college. :cool1:

DD is going with and looking for work while there.

They are only 20, was wondering if they can rent an apartment at that age and with minimal credit/income history.

They seem to like Abaco best? , maybe Alex Parc or Buena Vista Point area?

Celebration looks a bit to spendy. TIA.

Disney only provides housing for it's CP/ICP/ cultural representatives. That being said almost every apartment complex close to property offer cast member specials. Some have a lower monthly payment, some waive the application fee etc. Abaco and Alexandria Parc Vue are both good options with lots if cast members living there. It's best to go to each place and see what the availability is and what cast member specials they have. Most require you make X amount of the total rent to make sure you can cover it. There are also a few income restricted properties close by as well.

Thanks so much, great info. Sounds like we will be doing a lot of investigation on this.

So far my DD loves Cane Island Apartments in Kissimmee. She lives in a 3 bedroom with 2 other girls. Rent is $1315/mo.

Will check that for sure thanks. Have you heard if it's on a bus line or just how much effort it takes to get to WDW. They will have one car so may be times they need to find other transportation.

Also wondering additional cost, such as AC (electricity) trash etc if you have heard thanks.

ETA: Just checked and that does look much nicer/newer.

By car, it's only about 10 mins to the parks and I would think it is on a bus line...it's right off rt. 192. Haven't got a utility bill but that will be the same wherever they end up.

My daughter lived at Cane Island for a while and takes the bus a lot. It is $2 one way. I believe it is Bus 56 that stops at TTC and Disney University. There is a bus stop right on 192 where you turn for Cane Island. Travel time varies depending on which park you are going to. She worked at AK then, sometimes it could take more than an hour because you have to go to TTC and catch an internal bus unless you are staying at MK. She works at MK now and it is a much easier commute.

Thats great to hear.

Can they/we just rent a 3BR and visit on occasion?

I assume if we come down and visit we could take the bus to TTC then? That would be super easy to get around from there.

I am not sure of all the details there. She was roommates with a few other girls in a 2 bedroom. I am pretty sure it is a lease situation. It was kind of complicated because roommates switched a few times before their lease was up. The bus is the Lynx bus, so, yes, you could take that, although a car is quicker and easier. You can get to the parks from the TTC, but to get to Downtown Disney I believe you would have to, first take an internal bus to a resort and, then, an internal bus to DTD

I would strongly urge them to stay in the Disney Apartments. You get to meet so many people and there is the social expert. My son enjoyed the living with the other college program kids and believe it or not you have a lot less issues.People do not realize that getting an apartment has a lot of issues.People get fired, pregnant, quit. etc. They do this in and out of the program. But in a Disney apartment they get you a new room mate and you only owe your rent --in the "real world" if a room mate splits the others are jointly liable. My son had issues like the person they paid the rent too did not pay the leasing office therefore incurring late fees and almost an eviction.By living in the program you get to know the room mates and they can always get an apartment after it ends.Trust me living within Disney has a lot of advantages. They separate the over 21 folks from the under 21 folks.
