Ok, we are looking seriously into buying DVC
Here's the question...
Say we buy into AKL, then you want to add on more points, can you add more points but into a different resort? This is the part that confuses me

I see alot of you have more than one resort in your sig line, does that mean you purchased 2 or 3 DVC'S or are they add on's?
I hope that makes sense
Thanks in advance :)

Once you are a member, you are eligible to add on thru DVC. Min. is 25 pts and 50 points if you want to finance thru DVC.

You can add on whatever they are selling or you can waitlist for a resort when points become available.

I have added on to own different resorts, but we have also purchased Master contracts of 160 points or more at SSR BCV and AKV.

So you have several options to meet your point total goals.

HTH!:thumbsup2

Yes, you can purchase add-ons at different resorts. Say you have a 160 point master contract at AKV and do a 50 point add-on at OKW. At the 11 month window, you can book a reservation at AKV using those 160 points and a reservation at OKW using those 50 points. You can not combine points from different resorts for the 11-month booking window. They can be combined at the 7 month window.

In other words, the points at each resort have 11-month booking priority at that resort only.

That helps, thanks guys
We would love to be able to add on at the WLV since that is our fav resort
Thanks again! :)

We own at HH and BWV (300/215). I wish it was the other way 215/300 to be able to take advantage of the booking window at BWV, which is harder to get into i think. That is the only consideration to different home bases (other than slight differences in yearly fees), the 11 mo window.

If VWL is your favorite, then why not buy there? There is always the resalers as a way to buy sold out resorts, but DVC also sells them if you ask. The difference will be that DVC will finance the purchase but the reseller wont. If you need to finance, then going through DVC directly for a sold out resort is the way to go, but if you are paying cash, then use one of the resalers for a better price.

TTS (unless something has changed recently) actually does offer financing thru Benchmark Bank - terms on a 10 yr loan were the same as Disney's or at least last year they were.

FWIW~

I didn't know that! I thought you were on your own for finding financing with the resellers.

The best way to finance a purchase of any kind that I have found is through your home bank using a CD. Whatever percentage they are paying you for your money they loan it to you at 2% above that. You still receive your interest even during the time you have the loan. So you are basically borrowing money at 2%. And you can set up your own repayment terms, monthly quarterly, yearly.
