I already have a flight booked, but I got a better Ding this morning. Can (should) I cancel my original flights and then immediately rebook using those credits? Do the credits appear that quickly? Can (should) I call SW to make these changes, or do they have to be made online? Thanks for any help.

I just did it myself. I saved $32.55 for 5 flights, but hey, it's $32.55 in my pocket. That's a tank of gas in the rental car!

What you have to do is go through the booking process and when you get to the payment section choose ticketless travel funds. Call SWA and tell them to cancel your old reservation. This will take about 10 seconds and then you can bring up the funds and use them to pay for the new reservation.

Or you can do it yourself with the part of the website called Travel Center and the "Change Air Itinerary" link.

It can easily be done online...
First book your Ding rate until you get to the part where you enter payment.
Open a NEW window and go to the Travel Center and cancel your original flight. You will be given a confirmation number for ticketless travel funds.
Now reopen the Ding window and select View/Apply Ticketless travel funds to pay for this fare. It will deduct your fare from the funds.
I've done this a couple of times, just did it today and saved $71!
HTH

Is your DING flight actually booked and confirmed prior to applying payment? I'm just wondering how this works. I'd hate to cancel a good rate and then find the DING rate gone when I go to apply my canceled flight ticketless travel funds. Did that make sense?

i was wondering the same thing. i have 10 people to book, was hoping i could get a n/s flight instead of the one we have.

This is why I said to open a second window to cancel your original booking but keeping the new booking window open. Your tickets are being held for you while you complete the transaction. I hope this makes sense!

Thanks, LauraBelle....I never thought about opening a new window for the cancellation....I have cancelled then rebooked several times and always wondered what would happen if I lost the seats...never happened, but I have wondered...never thought to just open a new window for the cancellation!! Duhhh....thanks for the tip for those of us too slow to figure it out on our own!!

I did what LauraBelle suggested earlier today and it worked like a charm. I did'nt save but a few dollars, but I was able to move our trip up a day and added a night! :cool1: Thanks for the great help!

Thanks Laurabelle your instructions were very easy to follow. I had 11 seats reserved on my credit card so I now have a $130.41 credit for my next trip. I just love disboards its my evening entertainment.

It seems like some of you are quite familiar with SWA so I was wondering if there is anyway to find out when they will extend booking past Dec. 12Th 2005? It seems to be a REALLY BIG secret. Do travel agents get the "heads up"? If there is any info out there it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Check your fares! Southwest is having a big FL sale!!! I rebooked yesterday's Ding rate of $68 to the sale fare of $49! :Pinkbounc

This is not a 100% certainty but last year Southwest released dates through January 14 on July 29 and dates through March 3 on September 23. February dates will be a little while longer.

I just got the $49 rate for us. I did have a DING rate of $59 but every little bit helps. Now if I can just get a later flight for Sunday that would really make my day! :goodvibes

thanks Laurabelle you just saved me another $170. I never thought to look under specials. I now have a $330 credit for future travel so now I can start planning another trip after our October trip.
