I am hoping that maybe some of you can help me esp. those that work for DVC. I have a timeshare near WDW and I am wanting to sell it so I can purchase DVC. Can DVC help me sell my old timeshare so I can purchase theirs. Let me know Thx :surfweb:

I don't think so... Disney isn't a resale broker.

Contact the board sponsor (They have other listings) or another broker if you want someone to help you sell it. And if you bought it from the developer realize that you will more then likely take a HUGE loss (Marriott and Hilton hold thier value better if you own them, but Westgates are big losers on the resale market for example)

If you bought from the developer, you could be in for a rude awakening. Most timeshares, Orlando especially, are worth only a small fraction of what was paid. Your best bet to resell would be Marriott, your worst would be Westgate and the NON 5 star resorts in general. Westgate offers unique challenges. MOST 2 BR timeshares in the area are worth a few thousand dollars at best before commissions. Most brokers charge 10-12% commission and many have a minimum usually in the $795-1000 range but can be higher for some.

Be aware of people wanting to charge you an upfront fee, usually with outrageous claims of high prices and/or rental prices. Almost all are scams and they universally are a bad idea. You should join Timeshare Users Group where there is a wealth of information including BBS, ratings, and sales data.
