I tried posting this previously, but encountered problems. So, here it is again.

My DH has been bugging me to ask this questions on the "boards". So, does anyone know if the DME can go directly to the parks instead of to the hotel? He thinks that because our luggage will arrive to the hotel, that we would be checked in. What are your thoughts?

I suppose in theory yes they could, but you would probably have to pay the driver alot of money because s/he is going to get fired.

DME is from Airport to Resort. You have to physically check in at the resort. You have to get the room/charge key etc. Yes, your luggage might be there, but unless you check into the hotel, you wont be able to get your luggage later.

No, DME does not go directly to any parks, only resorts. Period.

Just because your luggage reaches the resort does not mean you're checked in yet. You're not checked in until your body is there, you sign some stuff, accept your room keys/resort IDs, etc.

If you are buying your park passes though Disney and do not already have them separately, you'll have trouble getting into a park without first checking in.

Let me go a step further. Let's say you're so eager to get to a park ASAP that you want to take a taxi from MCO to a park. That won't work because they won't ship your luggage if you don't ride the DME bus.

Sorry, I know it's not what he wants to hear. :badpc:

The DME motorcoach will only go to the resorts for which it was assigned. It does not have the permissions to go into the theme park bus parking lot.

On a secondary note, you would still need to go to your resorts front desk to physically check in. Having your luggage transported does not check you into a hotel.

It has been posted before that people had wanted to bypass riding DME, using it to just have their bags transported and then transporting themselves via towncar. This is not possible. You must check in at the DME counter, get your travel vouchers verified, and get on the bus or else your luggage will be left at the airport. DME buses are assigned to certain routes and only travel those routes. You must be on the bus and you must check in at the resort, give them your information for room charging, get some papers and your room key, (in other words check in) or else you are not checked in. Like the other poster said, if your park tickets are going to be on your room key, you'll have to get them too.

For that matter, do you really want to go to the park all day, return late that night, then check in, get your luggage, and wait for them to assign you whatever room might be left over for that day. You may not like your view of the trash dumpster. I would prefer to check in as early as possible and be able to request the view I want. You check in late and you'll get whatever's left over. I was at WDW this past January and also this past May. At neither time was I assigned the view I had requested, but because I checked in early the CM was able to check around and got me the exact views I had requested. I have no doubt he moved someone who had not arrived yet, in order to get me those views.
