Do you think a Silver Castaway Club member (2nd cruise) stand a chance at getting a cabana on Castaway Cay?

Thinking of trying to get a big group of friends to sail together and split the cost of one.

I tried from the day our adventures opened up until the cruise. Never got one.

Bummer. Just have to keep sailing until we are gold I guess. ;-)

As a Silver?

Doubtful...

As a Gold?

Your chances improve, but are still on the slim side...

However, if you (or a member of your party) book a Concierge level room you will get the same advance booking window as a Platinum CC member regardless of your CC membership status.

You did mention a "big group". Disney does limit the maximum number in a cabana. I think it is 10. Also, beyond the six, there is a $50 charge per person up to the, I believe, 10 maximum.

Good to know. I was thinking 6 or 7 people. Thanks for all of the info. We'll be fine enjoying the beach sans cabana. :-)

Doh! Not sure I can swing that. My last name's not Romney. ;-)

LOL. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wasn't trying to be snarky, but really that is the best chance you have as a Silver. You can always ask to be put on the waiting list if someone canx onboard. Another way is if you know a Platinum or Gold member and maybe go in with them..

A celebrity was on our last cruise and someone from our meet group said that they had the cabana next to them. Oh so jealous!!!

I am a firsttime cruiser and at the 75 day mark I went to book my excursions (on a Fantasy Cruise this August.) There was one cabana in the adult area (Serenity Bay) available at 3am. Someone probably canceled their cruise just before the PIF date. It stayed available for a few hours after that and then someone snatched it up. Not to get your hopes up, but obviosuly there is a chance, just make sure to check as soon as you can on the 75 day mark.

I was silver back in May, and went online right at midnight at the 90 day mark. There were two cabanas available - one on the Family Beach, and one over at Serenity Bay. Granted we were on the Magic, which means fewer people to compete with...and I believe our sailing was not full by any means. But it definitely is possible.

I am a silver member and I was able to grab the last one or perhaps a canceled one about 2 months prior to our cruise. January 2012
You never know.

The cabanas are great.

Good Luck I hope you can get one.

When my booking window came up for Silver for our August Dream cruise, there were still a few Cabanas left. So I think it may depend on when you are cruising. I actually booked it and then decided a few days later to let it go. So there is always some hope!

We got one last summer - I kept checking almost daily and one opened up and I grabbed it without even asking DH! I surprised him and DS on the first night of the cruise. Best money spent ever! Keep trying!

Just put of curiosity, what makes it feel like the best money ever spent?

We are Silver, leaving on the Fantasy July 14th, and when my booking window opened up I was on as soon as it opened and wasn't able to get a cabana booked. But I kept checking several times every day and sure enough one happened to open up and I grabbed it immediately. I have heard nothing but great things about the cabanas so I am really excited to experience it myself.

Don't give up hope if you can't get one right away just keep checking and something may open up.

Good luck to you!

I wish someone would enlighten me too. I seriously don't get the hype. It's just a structure, and to me the beauty of Castaway Cay is being out in the fresh air, looking at that view, not being stuck inside. I just don't get it, but different strokes I guess? Isn't it something like 500.00?? Crazy money for a few hours. But that's just me.

To the poster who said a celebrity was next door, was it Nancy Grace by any chance? She was recently on a Disney cruise.

I am also silver and was just able to book for our October cruise on the Dream. Cabanas 2,3,4,5 & 6 were available.

So there is hope.
