The Toy Story 1 Snowglobe. The one that has Buzz & Woody in the globe (supposed to be the RC car) surrounded by the other toys and blocks around the base?

I have one and I want to list it on Ebay, but I want to make sure I don't put a Buy it Now price that is too low. I haven't seen this one on Ebay in a long time. Well there was one someone was trying to sell for $65 but it was broken so no one bid.

I posted this in the collectors board but I don't know how active that board is and I was hoping to list this today.

Can anyone with a knowledge of snowglobe values help me out??

Thanks!
Sheri

Did you look in the completed auctions as well?

The only other thing I can suggest is that you Google "Disney Collectibles" and see if you can find a web site with photos and values..

If you have any reason at all to believe it's valuable I would NOT put a "Buy It Now" on it.. I would let it rip and see where it goes! I once put up an old ratty falling apart Mickey Mouse cookbook that I thought I would be lucky to get five bucks for.. It sold for over $100 !!!!!!

Good luck!

That's awesome!! :)

I checked completed items but I haven't googled yet. I think I will try that and see what I find out! :)

Another hint - if googling Disney Collectibles produces too many results, try googling Disney Waterglobe Collectibles..

Stop back and let us know what you find out.. I'm curious now!;)

Tried both. Could not find a thing :(

I think I will just list it and hope for the best.

You're kidding? Wow! Well have you checked back on the collectibles board on eBay? If no one answers right away, I "think" that you can change your opening bid up until you get your first actual bid on the item..

Sorry you couldn't find anything.. If I have time later I'll try to hunt down some info myself..

Thanks C. Ann.

At the moment I'm in shock because I just discovered that I am in possesion of some very valuable Disney dvds.... I am seriously in shock. So that's kind of taken over my Ebay frame of mind right now.

I didn't bother listing these before because I figured they wouldn't be worth much. I was about to label them $5 each for a yard sale till I realized (by total accident) that they were worth about $60 each on Ebay. :earseek:

If you find anything about the Toy story globe, let me know. :) I'll be looking too.

( I don't remember if you responded to either of my money woe threads, but basically, DBF and I had a long talk last night and I decided that I am going to really focus on Ebay and other "odd jobs" instead of getting a "real" second job.)

Thank you so much for your help!

Whoa! Jackpot!!!!!!! ::yes:: You lucky thing, you.. And I'll bet you thought all you had was "junk" - huh?

Just remember - eBay can seem like a "real" second job when you first start selling and learning the ropes, but if you get stuck on anything pop on over to the "Ebay your way to Disney" thread on the Budget Board and there's always someone hanging out to help you..

Good luck - and I hope you make a BUNDLE !!!!!!! ;)

Curious about why you would put a buy it now on it?

On colectibles we just let it bid up to wherever it will go... case in point on our recent auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3914501699&sspagename=STRK:MESO:IT&rd=1

We thought perhaps we might get as much as $400 out of this.. well we were pleasantly surprised (to say the least)... never do a by it now on a collectible! Some people get so wrapped up in bidding you get WAY more than you ever expected!

Thanks Dan! The globe I have is not one of those ones, but that site will be really helpful to me when I start doing more and more of this Ebay stuff :)

HOLY COW, MELORA! I bet you had fun watching the bidding on that one.

When bidding gets that high, do you start worrying that the buyer won't be pleased with their purchase? I put up a used Gymboree blanket once (only paid about $15 or so on it when it was on sale) and it went for $65 or so. I kept thinking, "It's not new. They know it's NOT new"

Good luck with your snowglobe, EsmeraldaX!
Now, I'm going to check my auctions ;)

Lori P. :)

Thanks all!

Whoa! That is excellent Melora!!!

I guess you never know what people will pay for things. I had a wind up robot once I put a starting bid of $5 on and as it turned out, someone paid me about $65 for it.

I think maybe I won't bother putting a Buy it Now on the globe. I just discovered that it is not only musical , but it doesn't just play a music box style version of the song, it actually has the characters singing!

:) Part of me doesn't want to part with it, but part of me says I need $$ and I can always look for it again later online if I want it that badly. :)

Go to your local Barnes and Noble and find the antiques and collectibles section. You can always find a Disney book in there, and look it up. You don't have to buy the book.

If you haven't already listed it I'd wait until Sunday evening. Sunday evenings have always been my best time to list a 7 day auction. I agree with some of the other posters.....don't use Buy It Now...maybe use a Reserve though since it is a collectible.

OH Yes! We worry all the time when something like that happens!

It turns out the buyer gave a glowing positive and even wrote and thanked us for the wonderful transaction!

Talk about a sigh of relief!

I wanted to put a $300 reserve on it and Jeff said "better not.. try a $200 in case it doesnt make it that high!!"

We knew it was worth something, but didnt realize its rarity!

When it hit $600 after only 2 days on auction, I knew it was going to go much higher than I thought....

We sold an RCA night light made out of potmetal a few months back.. it was old (had the old fashioned cord to prove it) but it wasnt anything great and it went for over $90.. I was so worried that maybe the people bidding thought it was something it wasnt. We got a positive for that one too.

We are also currently selling glass negatives.. and they have turned out to be way more valubale then I originally thought...

Here is one that we sold last week..I was watching it close.... and I about fell off my chair when the final couple of seconds produced these results! Most of them are selling for an average of $30 each.

This is interesting! I have one of the Disney collectible buildings (the firehouse) that I have no use for and I've been thinking of selling it on ebay. I've been a bit leery of jumping into the ebay world but it looks like I might just have to give it a try!

I have been leery about jumping into ebay too. Maybe someone can give us a tutorial?

I am afraid that people will just "want something for nothing" like they do at a garage sale -- which I don't have anymore for that reason. Imagine giving something away for like 25 cents just to get rid of it even though it should be worth so much more, and they still try to bargain down the price!

It wasn't worth it, so now we just give to charity. Some things I haven't wanted to part with unless I can get a good price, however. For instance, I thought I could offer some Disney pins one time, but I did not find anything on the ebay search that would indicate I could even get as much as I paid for them.

I have wondered whether ebay is like garage sales in that most people don't make a lot of money and only a few brag about how much they made. There's no way to know for sure.

On ebay, wouldn't you still be stuck paying a fee just to post the item, with the fee increasing the higher your set price is, even if no one matches your set price? Also, if you don't have a "user rating" or whatever it's called, will people still bid on your item? DH's brother said "buy things first to build up a rating," but I don't feel the need to buy things on ebay!

Plus I guess we'd have to get set up on Paypal, find out about shipping costs, etc.
