Can anyone tell me anything about Akershus?

Does it seem crazy for us to do BOTH dinners in one trip? Has anyone done that? Our four year old is princess-crazy, and I'm (a total newbie!) not sure how much she would get to see of them in the park.

If she loves the princesses, get to Toontown when it opens and get into the Princess line in the tent. It can get really long later on! She can also see Ariel in her grotto. Belle, Jasmine and Snow White are also in FW in Epcot in their respective countries.

Then which would you do for which meal? hehe

The dinner food at Akershus is a bit unusual, so if you have picky eaters, you can go there for breakfast instead. You can get the strawberry soup at 1900 at both meals! :cool1:

Not crazy at all. We are doing both this trip. We are doing both dinners, as DD isn;t an early riser, and with going all day long, I let her sleep in. We did pne breakfeast two years ago and we had to back and take a nap after, as she was a zombie. LOL!

hehe!!

Unfortunately, our 4 year old is nothing like me and gets up with the sun. And she's BIG on food, she's culinary-obsessed.. so I know that she will love all of the meals!

I seriously think that she's going to go into shock when she sees the castle and all of the characters :rotfl2: .

We did both last week, reviews are in my January link. Both of them were fantastic for character interaction but the girls liked the Princesses better and we all preferred the food at the Princess breakfast over 1900 PF...the food there was disgusting

I have never been to 1900 park fare, but i did love Akersus. We had awesome interaction with the princess' Ariel, belle, jasmine, sleeping beauty and also alice (from alice in wonderland) was there! very yummy food, and great interaction! Definetely try it out!! :thumbsup2

We ate breakfast at Akerhaus and dinner at Park Fair....we enjoyed the food at both and the characters were ok at Park Fair but the 5 princesses and the photos with Belle made Akerhaus the better choice for us. We will be going back to Akerhaus this trip but not to Park Fair.
:)

We've done both for dinner.

We were pretty unhappy with 1900. The characters were great, but the food was only so-so. Also, we were seated right at the entranceway (it's a hotel banquet room, so there isn't a real entrance) and people kept coming in and out basically on top of where we were sitting. This ruined the ambience for us. The one thing I really liked is when Cinderella and the Prince were dancing, one of the stepsisters yelled, "I need a Prince!", grabbed my 3 yr old son and danced with him. He loved it!

We loved Akershus and are eating there again on our next trip. Lots of Princesses and great interaction. The food was delish (IMO) and getting a picture with the Princess was a bonus.

We did Akershus for lunch this past November. I honestly have to say that the food was very bad. It was the worst meal of our trip and not worth the money. The princesses were so quick at each table, I probably would have preferred to see them in Toontown at MK. I will never go back (and I have a dd5 who loves princeses). I also want to add that I am not a picky eater at all!

I went to dinner at 1900 two years ago. The food was not spectacular, but there was a large variety-something for everyone's different tastes. Overall, I enjoyed myself there much better.

If you decide to do both, maybe Akershus would be better for breakfst, and 1900 for dinner!

We were at DW back in November, and we ate at 1900 park fare on Tuesday evening, and then ate at Akersus for Lunch on Wednesday.

I agree with some of the others that the food at 1900 PArk fare was better, but to me not by alot. The character interaction at 1900 and Akersus was great.

Akersus has a cold bar buffet that is all you can eat and has salads and veggies, smoked salmon, and deli meats. Then you get to order form the menu, and the dessert plate they bring out was outstanding. You also get a free photo package with your meal at Akersus.

The characters at Akersus the day we went were Belle taking pictures, Cinderella, Aerial, Jasmine, Aurora(sleeping Beauty).

At 1900 PArk Fare it was really neat with everyone really playing there roles as the evil step mom, and step sisters, there was good character interaction, and the food wa a prime rib all you can eat american buffet.

Hope this helped, if it were my decesion I would do both again!!

the food at Akershus sucks big time!!! jmo
but the princesses are excellent!!!:thumbsup2

We've been to both. I think the food at 1900 Park Fair is better but my daughter loved seeing all the princesses that were at the Akershus House. She met Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, & Cinderella. If you want the "full princess experience" I would hit Akershus.

I think it's up to the person too. As my sister just went last week and loved the food. But I think breakfeast has more familiar foods. You won;t know till you try it. Everyone has different tastes.

We went to Akershus for the Princess experience. I really thought we'd see Ariel after all these people here mentioned her, but we saw Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Belle (took pic when walked in) and Snow White and Mary Poppins.

We had DD's princess figurines and all the princesses loved them and chatted with DD. When Mary Poppins came she had DD line up all the princesses and name them. Then she says "Where am i?" :rotfl: Very cute.

The food was ok. I liked it, but DH is very picky and so is DD so they basically ate nothing.

Next time I want to try them for lunch or dinner and also do 1900 since we saw the stepmother and sisters in MK before Belles storytime and they were awesome! I want to do a meal with them for sure.

I agree and I enjoy trying new things. I worry about my girls tho, even if we'd mainly go for the Princesses it'd be nice if they ate their food. ;) So I guess for them breakfast might be best.

We went to both for breakfast last week. I liked Norway better--in every way. The setting was nicer, the princesses were nicer, the food was better--I could go on and on. The food was ok at 1900, but there was not a huge selection for a buffet (yes, I know that at Norway the buffet is smaller, but I like the food they bring to your table more)--and I thought that only the Mad Hatter was a funny character. The rest were so boring. Except for the trek out to Norway, it won us over again.

They have standard food on the kid's menu for lunch and dinner.

I must say that after making fun of the name Akershus for months, DH would only agree to booking bounceback if I promised that we would eat there for breakfast next time.
