Can anyone recommend an upgrade from a Nikon D50?

I currently own a Nikon D50 that is about 6 years old. I am looking to upgrade. I would like to stay with Nikon so that I can use my existing lenses (18-55 kit lens, 55-200, and Sigma 18-200 OS). The camera pretty much stays on auto, but I would like to learn how to use the many features (looking at taking a class once I upgrade). The reason for the upgrade is at 6mp, I can't blow anything up past about an 8x10 (although I did manage to get a 16x20 with one really nice shot once). Also, the D50 does not have video capability. I was looking at the D3200, but it seems to have mixed reviews. Hoping someone can recommend an upgrade for me.

When I gave my DD my D50, I got the D80. If you want movie capability and a focus motor in the camera then D90 & D7000 are what you would be looking at. If your lenses have a focus motor then a D5100, D3200 or D3100 would be fine.

THe D3200 may feel like a step down from your D50. And that's because Nikon released a line of stripped down entry level cameras that were a little more affordable for consumers a generation or so after the D50 was released. The D3200 is smaller and will not auto focus with all lenses (check Nikonians.org for a chart on which looses what functionality). Now... all of that may be good or bad for you, depending on what you want to get out of a camera. The camera does have all the basic functionality you'd expect from a DSLR. It is capable of making great images in the right hands. It really comes down to the features you want in a camera and if you're good with the size.

From a D50 I would probably go with a D5100 or D5200. You may be able to find a used D90. The D7000 is nice too, but more expensive than the D5100/52000. The 5200 is very new so there may be some decent prices on the D5100.
