I know they took the McDonalds fries/chicken out of the parks a couple of years ago, but I just saw that McDonalds in the Downtown Market area closed in April. Is this permanent?
We rely totally on Disney transportation, so we do not have a vehicle to go off site. Is there anywhere to get McDonalds on property anymore? (My son has autism. Without getting into details, access to McDonalds is somewhat important to our trips).
I would greatly appreciate information from anyone with suggestions/knowledge.

I'm not completely sure about the McDonalds in the Downtown Market area, but every guide book I have ever used says that Restaurantosaurus sells McDonald's styled food. It is located in Dinoland in the Animal Kingdom. Maybe you can give this place a try instead? Hope this helps! :goodvibes

The only one is the McDonalds near the All Stars. You could walk there from All Star Sports or you could take a cab from elsewhere if absolutely necessary. All other forms of McDonalds have been removed from the Disney Parks and either replaced with Disney fries and burger or other foods.

How far of a walk is it from All Star Sports bus zone?

Exactly what I was going to ask - I really appreciate the ideas, and information, everyone!

1) The Mickey D's at DTD is closed permanently - now a chicken place.
2) Disney & McDonald's no longer have contractual relationships.
3) There is a free-standing one near All Stars.
4) But, you cannot walk to it.
. . . not that close
. . . no sidewalks
. . . dangerous roadways
5) The only way would be a taxi.
6) Sorry.

NOTE: Contact the WDW Community Realtions Department and tell them your situation. They might be able to find a workable solution.

I disagree with 4-6. I am new so please be kind. I was searching information about the McDonald's and saw this post as we are deciding between Pop and All Star Sports. We are seriously considering Sports because of the McDonald's. It has to be cheaper than the food courts for at least some of our meals. We are not doing the dining plan.

Anyways if you look at a satellite of the area - for example, Bing maps birds eye - you will see a sidewalk all the way from All Star Sports main entrance to the Mcdonalds. It is on the west side of the road. The distance is about .4 miles give or take from All Star Sports and a lot further from the other All Stars.

If you get any further information, please post. I really appreciate it, this is actually a BIG deal to my son. I would love to figure out a solution better than paying $$$ for a cab to get a $5 meal - ugh.
While I think of it, does anyone know a Disney location that might be similar tasting to McDonalds fries and burgers? (I know they have a pretty distinctive taste, but if I am desperate, I'd love to have some options I can at least try)
Thanks!

The one I mentioned before in the animal kingdom is supposed to be similar tasting to McDonalds. Sorry if there was any confusion! :goodvibes

Disney frowns upon anyone walking around on property outside of the self contained resort areas. I know you are not allowed to walk along the roadways. I believe the Sidewalk that someone found on satellite maps is meant for the cast members. If I remember correctly there was a parking area for the daily mousekeeping & support staff located in the vicinity of that sidewalk.

Just be aware that drivers aren't accustomed to seeing walkers. Be very alert if you decide to walk.

The removal of McDonalds from the parks is apparently permanent. The contractual relationship has been severed.

Restaurantosaurus in AK now serves the same burgers and nuggets produced in other Disney-owned CS restaurants, they're not anything like McDonalds and you likely won't be able to pass them off to your son as McDonald's.

If it is absolutely imperative that you go to McDonald's, your only options are to rent a car or to take a taxi or try walking to the stand-alone McDonald's near the All Stars. I don't recommend walking, especially with young children, because it is unusual for people to be walking there and drivers may not be watching.. It is not accessible via Disney transportation. Cost of a taxi ride would depend on where you are traveling from.

When sidewalks are present, I haven't found this to be the case. I've walked along the sidewalk on Buena Vista between Coronado and Blizzard Beach, which is not far from the area we're talking about. If one were to park in the northernmost guest parking area at Sports, the walk to McD's is quite short, and just requires using a couple crosswalks at intersections with lights.

I would think that a walk between two public areas of WDW connected by a walkway would get nothing more than "well, be careful crossing the street" if a Security Host were to ask about your intentions.

you should really try to contact guest relations...they are wonderful and they may be able to help.

Good Luck!!

And I hope you have an amazing visit!! :flower3:

You can try Cosmic Rays in Tomorrow Land at MK. They have fast food burgers and fries.

I have an ASD kid too. When he was younger we relied on the fact that MCD was at the world. He would've starved himself, quite literally if it hadn't been there. Cosmic Rays didn't work for us. The Electric Umbrella did though (EPCOT), but every kid is so different. I second that you should call guest services and see what they can do to help.

Maybe try on the DISabilities board - I know there is a helpful special diets phone number talked about on there.

We stayed at all star movies last trip. The mcdonalds was fairly close to all star sports but I can't confirm for definite if it's walkable as we never tried it. There was a mousekeeping parking lot nearby and we saw the staff crossing to go to the all star hotels so that part was certainly walkable.

i disagree with you disagreeing:rotfl2:...................we stayed at All Stars once 7 or 8 years ago and to walk from there to McDiddles would be taking your life in your hands.............. and............... why disagree with 6............are you sorry he is sorry?:rotfl:

I'm not sure about your son's situation, but if it is not specifically the food or the taste that he needs, and it is more the familiarity, what about bringing some McDonalds food wrappers or fry containers from home in your suitcase (maybe a friendly associate at a local mcdonalds would give you a few). Then you could dump the fries into that container and wrap the burger in the wrapper and he would be comfortable.

I hope this helps! My children are pretty young and this would probably work for them, but if your son is older or if it is something specific about the taste that he enjoys, this probably won't be helpful.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!
