Can anyone identify the trees?

We were waiting in line outside the Hyperion Theater at DCA and noticed the lovely, blooming trees. Some had purple blossoms and some had golden, orchid-like blossoms. Can anyone identify these trees?

These would be the trees in the waiting area to the right of the theater.

Hi there,
I can't picture what trees are right there! The ones with the purple blossoms sound like they could be jacaranda trees.

Did the one with purple flowers look like the pic below? If so, then as RallyMonkey said then they are jacaranda trees.

I love Jacaranda's. We have a couple in the back yard, a good distance from the house!!! Here's a pic of the flowers up close:

They are a South American native.

The purple ones are not exactly like that. They are mostly green with clusters of purple blossoms. The others are mostly green with clusters of yellow/gold orchid-like flowers.

If you ever have a question about a tree or any other plant at Disneyland or DCA, just stop in at City Hall. They have a list of every tree planted and can give you names.
