Anyone any idea if I can take rice cakes & dried cereal into the US for my little one? Just don't want to take them & have them taken off us and I know I will beable to get something similar out there but it'll be easier for the first couple of days if I have some of his favourite foods.
TIA for any help

One day to go :)

That would be fine, you can't take fresh fruit and veg and meat but dried products like cereal bars, rice cakes etc are all fine.

Like she said :goodvibes

You will be given a blue coloured form to fill in on the plane when you are approaching Florida and it will detail what you can and cannot take into the country. Just read this carefully and if in doubt ask

Rice cakes and standard dry cereals are fine. I always took these for my DD when she was gluten intolerant and it was never a hassle. As Pegasus said, just be sure to declare it. Innocent food that is permitted may cause you a problem if it appears that you were trying to pretend you didn't have it :goodvibes

Can I just give my list as I am always worried about this :scared1:
Cartons of orange Juice
Frosties
mushroom and tomato cup a soup
Cearel bars
Loaf of bread
plastic tub of Jam.
Teabags
Little tots of milk just for the first night as we drink lots of tea:banana:
Is it best to carry all this in our hand luggage and just declare on the form?
Will I have to go through a seperate line

you have to declare everything - which just means ticking yes on the "food" question.
they'll ask you what food and you'll tell them.

you don't go through a separate line. everyone goes through the same line.

i'm not sure that orange juice is permitted.
if you mean to carry it on board, i don't know if you can even do that anymore (security).

the rest of it sounds ok.

but if you declare everything then even if you have something not permitted, they just take it away from you and that's it.

but if you don't declare it and they find it and it's not permitted, then they can fine you big time.

so always declare food to be on the safe side.

Thanks Beth.
I will change the cartons to blackcurrent just incase. I will def declare not worth the risk.

Alyson, the little tots of milk will be a no-no. You would be better off, even at the airport, going to any place that serves cold beverages to go (can's of soda, etc) that they will sell little cartons of milk for kids. Rather get some over there.

Regarding the juice, I am not sure that changing for a different fruit makes a difference, as it is fruit which is not permitted to be taken through. Everything else on your list is absolutely fine :)
