Can anyone confirm-the stack for 12-19 year olds?

I just received my copy of Vacation Magic, the DVC quarterly newsletter/magazine. It has an article about the changes made to the teen area, and gives a little information about "The Stack". I am quoting right from the magazine and it says, "a club exclusively designed for Guests ages 12 to 19".

I know Common Grounds was for kids 13-18, and I am wondering if this has changed now that it has become The Stack, or if maybe that is a misprint in the magazine. I am very much interested in this, as our boys will be 12 & 14 when we cruise this April.

Can anyone confirm what the age group is for The Stack now that the changes have been made? Thanks!

Actually, I thought Common Grounds was 13-17, because they tread 18 year olds as adults (can get into Palos and the spa at that age).

I'd be interested in knowing if they are changing The Stack age range to 12-19 for future trips. And if when the Wonder goes through drydock, will they move the Teen Club like on the Magic and re-do the age range on the Wonder too?

Oops, I think you are right about Common Grounds being 13-17. Still wondering about The Stack?

I would like to know the answer to this also. My oldest will be 12 when he goes on his next cruise.

On our 11/8 cruise they would only allow 12 yr. olds in if they were 1 month or less from their 13th birthday. My daughter was pretty upset about this, as she was bored in the lab at age 11. She met several 12 to 14 yr old girls & they just hung out on deck 9 & 10, went to the movies, etc.. no programming. The 13 & 14 yr. olds said no one was in the Stack & it was boring.

It wasn't a real problem, but I would have liked her to have programming to look forward to. DCL has a real hole in their programming for the " Tween" age group- one of the biggest groups on board.

Perhaps they are rethinking the age programming. Many people on these boards have voiced the same concerns about the lack of activities for the "Tweens"

The following is from Disney Cruise Line website as of Nov. 29:

"Teen Activities

It's the ultimate place to hang. The Stack brings wonder to the Disney Magic®, while Common Grounds creates magic on the Disney Wonder®. Both spots are dedicated to teens only and come complete with music, games and large-screen TV, even an Internet Café. The Stack and Common Grounds are for teens ages 13 to 17 to meet on their own terms."

I read about it in the same magazine and talked to a counselor on the wonder who said it was most likely not true that the stack was going to be f0r 12-19. I hope she is wrong, though.

I always felt the 13-17 age group was too much of a spread. Gee, 12-19! ouch. As far as programming for teens. Our boys were 18 & 15 & 15 on their first DCL cruise. They were already in the age bracket where arranged programming was not the thing to do. They preferred to sit and hang out with the people they met. Our 18yr old just hung out with his brothers. I assume that is why the stack provides a larger area for the teens to hang to do their own thing. I would like to see 12-14 yr olds grouped with activities that would be considered cool or whatever the word is that they use for cool now a days. Even then you will get the group who feels to "mature" to hang with youngsters from their same age group. Remember, you can't please everybody but DCL does do a great job of trying. Kathy
