Can anyone confirm that Ice Station Cool is closed for 6 months?

I read this here recently, but I can't find any official word on the rehab. I checked www.waltdisneyworld.com, here at the rehab section and at www.allearsnet.com and I don't see any mention of it. I'm really hoping its not closed down during the end of July or for the majority of the summer. We were looking forward to it as a cool off spot during the heat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm the one that posted the info ~ you could've just asked me :goodvibes

I am curious, is this the place that has the coca cola's from around the world?

Yes, that's the place ~

Yup, FWIW, I was there yesterday and the cave opening is sealed shut. There is one of those "Imagineering the Future" type signs on it where the entrance was, but doesn't give a reopening date.

Oh, I hope it opens up again for my Nov/Dec trip. I had never heard of it before and so never visited, dah...

Have it done as a "must check out" for this trip.

Oh no...........................we love that place. My husband collects coke cola stuff so he will be dissapointed.

Here is the message I posted in the other thread:

Starting May 31, Ice Station Cool, which is the location at Epcot that allows you to taste all the different flavored drinks from around the world will be closed for a 6 month refurbishment. The entrance to the attraction will be re-done to make it more like the entrance to Innoventions. All the cold/snow, etc will be removed and all the cast members will be receiving new costumes.

I am very upset about this :sad2: We are going at the end of July and I have never been to Ice Station Cool before. Was looking forward to tasting all the Coca Cola's from around the world...also looking forward to cooling off in the July heat...oh well, I catch it on our next trip.

It's Disney... things change :flower: As for the cooling off part, any of the buildings there can offer you a respite from the heat. Ice Station hasn't had actual "snow" in a very long time.

Is that space going to be re-themed with a totally different sponser, or is it going to be re-themed, but you can still sample coca-cola products ????

Wow, what lousy timing! My family and I will be at WDW in July, and my family members LOVE Ice Station Cool. We haven't been to WDW since 2001, and it will probably be AT LEAST 2009 until we go again.
But thanks for this thread! It's much better to know now so I can tell everyone. Otherwise, they'd all be disappointed to find out after we already got there!

Thanks,
I was afraid it was true but since I hadn't seen it "officially" posted even on WDW's site I was hoping it was just a rumor and only shut down for a few weeks.

I'd much rather have Ice Station cool closed than a ride, but you know.........I had rather looked forward to it. I swear it was closed when we were there last year in Nov/Dec. I do remember it was open in January when I was there, but I didn't go in it that trip as I wasn't with my family.

Thanks so much for the info everyone. At least I can stop wishing!!

Coke stays as sponsor, but it will be renamed "Club Cool." Whether the free samples will continue, I have no idea.

What?! You mean I can't offer my unsuspecting sweetie some Beverly?

Aw, shucks!

:rotfl2: Mira

Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never been and promised myself that we would hit it this next trip in September!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You mean we won't get to drink all the Beverly we want. Say it isn't so..... :rotfl:

But I do love the taste of the watermellon drink.... yummy :earboy2:
